That's right! In case you already didn't know, Disney has been filming a movie based on one of my all time favorite Princess villians - Maleficent. And based on the recent release of the trailer for the 2014 movie it's going to be AMAZEBALLS. Don't believe - check it out for yourself....
I mean I seriously don't think you could have cast anyone better than Angelina Jolie as the wickedly stunning sorceress who curses Princess Aurora (aka Sleeping Beauty) after being left out of her birth celebration. And looks like Elle Fanning is as "Doe-Eyed" as ever. I'm just excited to see Flora, Fauna & Merryweather. As one of my favorite (and slightly under rated) princess movies, this live-action version looks to be a winner! What do you guys think?
These commercials just speak to me... and are freaking HILARS! Don't you agree? {The last one on the last video is my favorite!} Happy Friday everyone!!
Still from Justin Timberlake's new music video "Suit & Tie"
Black & White does a body good.. and I've got just the thing to perk up your weekend! Justin Timberlake finally revealed the video to his smash hit single "Suit & Tie" and it doesn't disappoint. If you like hot men, in tailored-to-a-T suits, with a slight nod to old school Frank Sinatra or Michael Jackson, then this is a video you MUST watch.
An extremely dapper J.T. is shown driving around in L.A., playing the piano and enjoying a bit of gambling with the guys as he stuns us in a variety of gorgeous suits and ties. To top it off the lyrics from the song splash onto the screen to the beat of the music. Sigh.. it's perfection!
Oh and J.T. also gives us a hint that his new album "The 20/20 Experience" is dropping soon.... I can't wait! Check out the video below!
Let the record show:
a) I'm not into country music AT ALL
b) I can't get enough of ABC's Nashville [which probably means they'll cancel it]
c) I've had this song on repeat since the 2nd episode aired.
I literally get goosebumps every time I listen to it. It's sad, haunting and absolutely ahhhhhmazing.
Today, I'm finishing up my review by telling you about these amazing eye shadows that were super shimmery and shiny. You won't want to miss what I have to say about the surprisingly fabulous Liquid Powder Foundation and my new favorite - the Pressed Blush. Good Wednesday morning! Today, I'm linking up for a fabulous Vlog assignment and my first video party with The Girl Behind The Blog!
Hosting this fabulous series is Ashley from 5ohwifey & Lindsay from Trial by Sapphire. The topic they asked us to vlog about this month is: One thing you hope to begin, accomplish or change. I discovered this project from fabulous beauty bloggers, A Brunette Duet, last week while they were preparing their video. I thought all week about what I wanted to say and... well, here it is!!
Can't wait to see what you guys are vlogging about and what goals you're setting! Thanks again Lindsay & Ashley for the link up! xoxo
A few weeks ago, a representative for Motives by Loren Ridinger sent me a box of goodies to test out and try. So instead of a usual written post I thought I would try posting my first YouTube video! {You would think my years of studying broadcast journalism would come rushing back to me - I'm comfortable on camera but forgot how animated my hands can be - apologies in advance, I'm just really passionate when I talk about stuff}
This video is a review of the Nail Candy colors (which I'm now obsessed with) and the Lip products that I received (you must try the lipstick!) You can purchase anything by clicking the links above, or contact me and I can put you in direct contact with a representative who can answer any questions! Stay tuned for another video going over the rest of items seen above. Hope you enjoy!

Today, Billy and I are celebrating our 4th anniversary. Not exactly a "milestone" in terms of 5,10,15 etc.... but it's been an extremely exciting year for us. We've accomplished a lot of goals we set out to meet when when said "I Do" I couldn't more proud of where we're at right now.
Marriage is never easy and we've certainly learned a lot about each other and ourselves over the past 6 years together. But knowing that I get share my ups and downs with him is a comfort and joy that I can't explain.
Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of our photos digitally, so I thought I would share one of our videos with you readers. Our videographer was so amazing and clever, creating "Trailers" and "Music Videos" with scenes from our big day. Here's one that's so cute!
It's here! Finally! The trailer for the new "The Great Gatsby film" was just released. I had to tell myself to "breathe" over and and over again while watching it. And I will be watching it non-stop until it premieres in December 2012.
Baz Lurmann is a creative genius. No - a Cinematic Einstein if you will. The music selection? Ridiculously amazing. Jack White & Jay-Z for a movie set in 1922...? Brilliant. The clothes, the glitz, the glamour, the darkness. Fabulous. All of it. It's like I've stepped back in time into AP English and my love affair with the book has started all over again (not to mention my heart still beats for that blonde haired DiCaprio). Christmas cannot come soon enough. You're welcome! xoxo
I've had this this album on non-stop repeat since October. His voice and his words are perfectly haunting and ridiculously amazing. We're almost to Friday everyone!! xoxo
The weather in LA has gone crazy! We've been experiencing a major wind storm (60-plus mph) that is expected to last through Friday! While walking to my car last night I thought I might actually blow away. Let's just say that this kind of blustery weather is never a good fashion statement. I came to work today armed with a seriously high top knot, lots and lots of hairspray, and hopes that what happens to Carrie Bradshaw above never happens to me! Happy Thursday!
P.S. I wanted to share this video but YouTube wouldn't let me! So for all the Winnie-the-Pooh fans if you watched this video 100+ times like I did - you'll love it!
Whenever we head to Palm Springs we usually spend the weekend lounging by the pool, biking around town, eating delicious food and laughing constantly with Steve & Dana (our gracious hosts). It's so fabulous. And the music... Oh the music! It's constantly flowing all day (and night) long. I seriously love it. One of the songs that kept popping up was the Kate Hudson version of "Cinema Italiano" from the theatrical movie Nine. We actually just recently watched the movie and while it was a little hit or miss my absolute favorite part was actually Kate Hudson's sex kitten character Stephanie.
The chain smoking, blond haired, fashion journalist (of course!) with kohl rimmed eyes Stephanie, embodied everything that I love from this era. Her description of why American women love Italy still stands true (maybe I'm partial - but I doubt it...) And it was pretty amazing how much Goldie she was channeling for this role. Ah-mazing. But what really had me was her musical number. It was definitely, by far, the best one from the movie. The men in the suits, the black & white, the dancing. It's seriously phenomenal. For the past week I haven't been able to stop thinking about fringe, cat eye sunglasses and thigh high boots. I love being inspired by different periods of time or movies or even old magazine photographs. Anything from the past can really be worked into your everyday wardrobe - you just have to find a way to tweak it to work for you. For instance to modernize this look I would
Happy Monday! Kicking off this week I thought I'd share with you the "50 Best" for June's L.A. Times Magazine. I've covered this edition before from their February 2010 50 Best Hollywood Movie Kisses and I always look forward to what their choice will be. This time it was my favorite list yet, "50 best L.A. Bands" There could be no other choice for the coveted #1 spot - Venice originated The Doors. I have a slight obsession with this band. I fell in love with them and their music after I got my hands on my dad's 1985 Best Of The Doors album. I literally played that double set over and over getting lost in Morrison's words and the sound of Manzarek's organ. They're truly some of the most amazing creative minds ever which is why they definitely deserve the top spot for L.A. bands. Neil Young also makes an impressive triple appearance with #4 Buffalo Springfield, #11 Crosby, Stills, Nash [this totally counts as their best songs are with Young] & #24 Neil Young and The Crazy Horse. The list ranges from 1961 (The Beach Boys #2) up until 1999 (Maroon 5 #26) Check out the list here and see if your fav band is listed. You can also vote and help decide who you think should be the HomeGrown #1. Now I'll leave you with one of my favorite live Doors performances from The Hollywood Bowl 1968. Here's a start to great week!
Judging from these clips it's definitely got a Josh Schwartz vibe (Gossip Girl, O.C.) and kind of reminds me of the WB (yes I said WB!) shows I grew up with (Felicity, Gilmore Girls) Tell me - will you be watching? Also for all you WB fans Sarah Michelle Gellar's new show also got picked up. You can watch those previews here.
Yay! Another part in my favorite series: The BlueFly Closet Confessions Video. One of my all time fav celebrities was featured: Giuliana Rancic. I just love her! In college my girlfriends and I used to come home after classes or work and eat dinner together while watching E! News. It was such a bonding time for us and we loved seeing what G was going to say or wear next. Now - I love watching her reality show Giuliana & Bill because they're such a funny couple and super relatable. I think it's the one show that Bill will sometimes watch with me and not compain about... :) The video was shot at her E! dressing room which I can only imagine must be like a playground for us fashion obsessed adults. She is always wearing some gorgeous dress or shoes when filming segments so I was really excited to see her video premiere today.
Of course there's tons of labels and designers featured - but in this video Jose (E!'s stylist) and Giuliana spend more time providing comic relief about outfits. Especially the part about Ryan Seacrest and her having to wear the flats - it cracked me up! Take a look at the video and let me know what you think: It's a bit different than the other few Closet Confessions - but still great! Hey Loveys - It's almost Friday! xoxo
I've been a "Real Housewives of..." junkie ever since I saw the first season of the Orange County ladies. Now - I honestly can't get enough. It's like the never ending circle of housewives... As soon as one season is over there is always a new one on the horizon. Luckily the newest season of Bravo's show was the best one yet: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. After the first episode premiered I basically felt like we had stepped up from the minors to the majors. The houses were enourmous, the clothes were more glamourous, the jewelry sparkled more. The money was practically pouring out of the television. It's a peak into a life that deep down everyone is a little jealous of...
Which brings me to the subject of this post: Kyle Richards. My friend Amy and I were kind of obsessed with her (well she more with her husband and me more with her style) Aunt to Paris and Nicky Hilton, Kyle always looks amazing with her YSL heels, larger than life sunnies and extremely long brunette hair. Kyle is funny hilarious, down to earth, beautiful - dare I say "Normal" (meant in only the best way possible) Kyle is one of the housewives who you can actually relate to (surprising in this reality franchise!) She's honest and real. I was extremely excited when I found out she was going to be a part of BlueFly's Closet Confessions. These videos are shot in a celebrity's closet while they tell stories or showcase favorite shoes, jewelry, dresses etc... It's just another way for their fans to connect with them. So far my favs have been Nicky Hilton and Johnny Weir (naturally) but Kyle's might just take the cake. Probably because we have similar tastes - She loves sparkles, vintage and even (gasp!) Steve Madden! Or as Amy put it: "You are Kyle! But with less money..." Take a look at her Closet Confessions video below. Her daughter is absolutely adorbs! Plus I think I might start using her "Knock a 0 Off" theory - so smart! ;)
If you haven't seen this movie yet - I highly suggest you do. It's beyond. I've kind of been obsessed with it since I saw it - partly due to the fact that the costumes are fab-u-lous. (If I could ever get my hands on that white gown Nina wears in the film...) Check out this video put together by Swarovski about the costumes for Black Swan that were designed by the sister duo and great friend to Natalie Portman, Rodarte.
I love this episode of Sex and the City. I think every single person has experienced this type of moment where you accidentally close a document without saving or in Carrie's case - lose an entire computer full of information. Then we always have the same reaction about change - why can't we go back to what we had? I experienced a similar thing recently that involved my blog. I've have had a computer die on me before. But this issue with the blog... Oh this was so much worse!
You may have noticed that my blog has changed quite a bit. Or a lot a bit. Ahhh the wonders of technology. While I am very grateful for the avenues technology provides... it can definitely have it's downfalls. And boy was this a doozie... In the midst of deleting a gmail address that was (apparently) tied to my blogger account I in turn deleted all my hard work and made my URL no longer useable in one fail swoop - or click of a button. Oh yes. It happened. I called my father asking for his help (he is a computer genius). And in true relate your life to SATC style, his response: "When was the last time you backed up your info?"
After four days of devestation and persistently trying to contact Google Tech support with absolutely no response, I remembered one gloomy Saturday when I was stuck inside and I randomly decided to import my blog to another site. So I kind of "backed up" right?? To make a long story short, I ended up finding all my old posts, re-vamping the entire site and deciding to go with On Sugar.com for the continuation of Bedazzles After Dark. Turns out this option is a lot better than what I was using. Plus I actually enjoyed going back through my old posts (like this one or this one) It felt like I was breathing life into my writing and I remembered why I started this whole gig in the first place. And in true Carrie style *I couldn't help but wonder* if this was where Bedazzles After Dark's home was supposed to be the whole time.
*After all, computers crash, people die, relationships fall apart. The best we can do is Breathe & Reboot. And when that fails, a little gizmo called a zipdrive can provide a surprising amount of comfort. So can a boyfriend. If you let him* Carrie Bradshaw
