Video: Rachel Bilson's New CW Series Hart of Dixie

It's Thursday! Even though I've been busy with work and trying to get things at the house back in order I had to post about this! Rachel Bilson is definitely one of my style icons. I am always looking at photos of her style and her column in InStyle is one of my favorites. She was also a major inspiration behind my Ombré Hair. With television's Up Fronts happening this week, the fall schedules are out and her new show's time slot is right behind Gossip Girl on Monday nights. I can't wait! The O.C. was an obsession of mine and Summer was definitely my favorite character [which may or may not have something to do with a college freshman telling me I reminded him of Summer] So here's a look at Rachel's new show! Enjoy!

Judging from these clips it's definitely got a Josh Schwartz vibe (Gossip Girl, O.C.) and kind of reminds me of the WB (yes I said WB!) shows I grew up with (Felicity, Gilmore Girls) Tell me - will you be watching? Also for all you WB fans Sarah Michelle Gellar's new show also got picked up. You can watch those previews here.

9.02.10 - Happy Beverly Hills Day!

Love me some Beverly Hills 90210! And I love that 90's fashion (at least some parts) is considered cool again (floral dresses anyone?) Check out this awesome spread from the amazing girls over at Who What Wear. Love! xoxo

Mad About You. Mad Men Premieres in 2 days!

Only two more days until we get to see New York's finest advertising executives in exquisitely tailored suits, smoking cigarettes and drinking bourbon at 11 in the morning. By the way - how awesome is this promo above? Amazing.. everyone working on this show is beyond talented. I am so excited not only for the premiere itself but for the change in fashion that will be happening. To me, the mid 60's are a rebirth of fashion (among other things) It means sleek silhouettes, brocade (God I LOVE brocade), bright colors, shorter hair and bold eye makeup. I know it won't be an instantaneous change but I know we will start seeing beginnings. Check out these photos I have been constantly stalking. They are absolute perfection.

Love me some Joan Holloway... She is devine.

Isn't this one of Betty just absolute gorgeousness....

See what I mean about the brocade and colors... Love Love Love!!!!

Also in honor of Mad Men mania - you can create your own Mad Men character here. Mine comes complete with Betty's equstrian gear, a lit cigarette and a shopping bag. Also take the Mad Men quiz to see which character you are.

My Very Own Don Draper

Right now I am on a plane and headed to the Big Apple! I love everything about NYC and in honor of my trip I wanted to share some news. On Wednesday Mattel announced their plans to launch a line of Barbie dolls based on the series "Mad Men". Along with those sharp suits and high heels, accessories like pearls and hats will be available with the dolls. However no martini glasses or cigarettes, which are everyday accessories for the men and women on the show. At only $74.95 you too can own your very own limited edition Don Draper or Roger Sterling (or as several of my girlfriends like to call him - The Silver Fox). The dolls will be launched in July of this year. However after looking at this photo I think Joan Holloway looks pretty spot on - You can't miss that sultry/seductive look she's giving. And Betty's dress? I'll take one in my size please! By the way, if you haven't watched Mad Men yet, you still have time to catch up before Season 4 starts in July. And I highly suggest you do.

Costume "Mad"ness

Nominations were announced today for the 12th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards. The CDG is an amazing organization dedicated to recognizing the hard work and achievements that costume designers provide for movies and television. Actors and Directors may be more widely praised for the work they do in these arenas but we can't forget how visual movies and TV shows are - after all we watch them. Costume Designers provide color, elegance and detail to what would otherwise be people talking to each other. I personally enjoy watching certain shows and movies just to look at the clothing the actors wear.
A few of the nominees I am excited about:

In the "Excellence in Period Film" category The Young Victoria designer Sandy Powell knows a thing or two about period design - she's designed for Interview with the Vampire, Gangs of New York, The Other Boleyn Girl and she won Academy Awards for her work on Shakespeare in Love and The Aviator. Set in the early 1830's the costumes that Emily Blunt (who plays Victoria of the United Kingdom) wears are absolutely fantastic. Big full skirts, lace, ribbon, lots of headwear and gorgeous jewelry are all just part of her wardrobe. Not to mention all the other men and women in the film including Rupert Friend as Prince Albert. I'm a huge fan of period pieces (Marie Antoinette anyone??) and Powell does an amazing job creating the looks for this movie. She's up against some tough comptetion - including French costume designer Catherine Leterrier for Coco Before Chanel - but she's my pick for this category.

Blunt will also be the recipient of the Swarovski Award (previously the President's Award) at the CDG ceremony.

Oh Mad Men... Where do I begin? Janie Bryant, nominated for "Outstanding Period/Fantasy Television Series", is an absolute wardrobe genius. The shift dresses, floral patterns, sweater sets, even Betty's equestrian wear are pure fashion gorgeousness. Plus can the men on that show look any hotter in those suits?? Bryant has said the inspirations for her 60's designs are Grace Kelly, Cary Grant and Jayne Mansfield; which is pretty obvious with the elegant Betty and sultry siren Joan. Bryant is also coming out with a style book which I personally can't wait to get my hands on. Perhaps some of the 60's colors that are featured in the show have provided inspiration for actual red carpet gowns (ahem - mustard anyone?) Even I purchased a Mad Men-esque dress complete with a floral pattern of purples, blues, greens and mustards. There's no denying that Bryant's designs have certainly sparked a 60's revival and isn't that what fashion is all about?

You can view the full list of nominations here. The CDG Awards will be held on February 17th at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA.

PR 7 Premiere!

Yay!!!! Although it has been a quick 2 months since Project Runway was last on television - I'm so glad it's back! PR will be premiering tonight, Jan 14th on Lifetime at 10/9C. It looks like the new group of designers might be a bit more dynamic/eccentric this season and I'm really looking forward to what they will create! It's a young crowd - as usual - 8 of the designers are in their 20's. I'm kind of going with a prediction and saying that Emilio Sosa has intrigued me. Check out his audition tape, sketches and family photos here. Will you guys be watching? Any predictions! Leave your comments and let me know! :) xoxo

Project Runway Finale

I love love love LOVE project runway. Even though I have absolutely no clue what to do with a sewing machine it's so much fun to watch the design process. I love seeing the designers sketch an idea, watch them make the outfit, complete it and send it down the runway. There is something so awesome about being able to witness these creative geniuses work. Plus, Heidi Klum is just ridiculously stunning and can do no wrong. This definitely wasn't my favorite season but I did enjoy a lot of the designers and their creative personalities. Ra'mon Lawrence was an early favorite of mine and I was hoping he would have made it to the end but that hideous scaly lizard idea had him "auf'd" a lot early than most people were anticipating. After that I just though Carol Hannah was absolutely adorable and I was obsessed with this dress:

I loved a handful of Althea's looks but there was no "Favorite" pick of mine throughout the rest of the competition. I wasn't very fond of Irina but mainly because she was pretty beotchy. However the girl's got talent. I was obsessed with those cozy sweaters. So glam and luxe! And she definitely put on a show at Bryant Park. I was totally loving those futuristic equestrian hats she was sending out:

So in the end I think they all did a fantastic job. I really like Carol Hannah's collection - but Irinia certianly went the extra mile with her accessories. I would have loved a little bit more color too like Nina Garcia said but overall her collection proved she should have won.
But perhaps one of my favorite parts of this season was the Model show after PR. In the first season (for all your PR fans before everyone jumped on the bandwagon) They showed a lot more of the desingers interactions with the models, confessionals with the models and just their roles as part of PR. (I mean who could forget that crazy model Morgan who fought with the designers like contstantly?) So I was really excited when they brought back that part of the show. I thought Katie was a great model and Vanessa was a favorite of mine (she had those amazing lips!) But Tanisha was the best model by far. She rocked practically every look she was given and looked gorgeous doing it!

Even though this season is over we won't have to wait very long for the next one to begin! It premires January 14 at 10pm et/pt on the Lifetime network - less than 2 months away! Yay! :) I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! xoxo
