The weather in LA has gone crazy! We've been experiencing a major wind storm (60-plus mph) that is expected to last through Friday! While walking to my car last night I thought I might actually blow away. Let's just say that this kind of blustery weather is never a good fashion statement. I came to work today armed with a seriously high top knot, lots and lots of hairspray, and hopes that what happens to Carrie Bradshaw above never happens to me! Happy Thursday!

I love and I mean love trying new hairstyles. It's so fun when you can figure out to work something new into one of the best accessories out there - your hair! I'm always wearing my hair in buns and top knots [they're my favorite and soooo easy] but I had yet to experiment with "The Carrie Bun"
If you didn't know what it was before just take a look at the photos above. Basically you take a regular bun and then super size it. So fab. My roommates and I always loved when Carrie would pop on an episode with this hairstyle, rocking it super casual or at major functions like Charlotte's "perfect" wedding/1st breakup with Aidan. The bun was also spotted several times in both SATC movies too - proving to be a true Carrie signature. I've been trying to come up with a hair style for an upcoming wedding but I'm pretty sure I have that one nailed down. However I knew I would need something for other functions (bridal shower, rehearsal dinner etc...) So I thought I'd give this a little practice. Ready to see it??

This is literally on the first try as well! I definitely want to make a few changes for next time (I think it needs to be much higher) but I am loving the volume it gives versus the regular bun/top knot I usually sport. The best part... it was SO SIMPLE! Like seriously took about 10 minutes - probably that long since it was my first time. This could totally be a 5 minute bun with some more practice. Have you seen those hair gadgets that help you achieve this look (like the hair donut)? Well I am proud to say this is all me baby! No extra shortcuts needed And since my hair-experiment went so well this morning I was feeling extra "Carrie-fied" as I got dressed:

I love this episode of Sex and the City. I think every single person has experienced this type of moment where you accidentally close a document without saving or in Carrie's case - lose an entire computer full of information. Then we always have the same reaction about change - why can't we go back to what we had? I experienced a similar thing recently that involved my blog. I've have had a computer die on me before. But this issue with the blog... Oh this was so much worse!
You may have noticed that my blog has changed quite a bit. Or a lot a bit. Ahhh the wonders of technology. While I am very grateful for the avenues technology provides... it can definitely have it's downfalls. And boy was this a doozie... In the midst of deleting a gmail address that was (apparently) tied to my blogger account I in turn deleted all my hard work and made my URL no longer useable in one fail swoop - or click of a button. Oh yes. It happened. I called my father asking for his help (he is a computer genius). And in true relate your life to SATC style, his response: "When was the last time you backed up your info?"
After four days of devestation and persistently trying to contact Google Tech support with absolutely no response, I remembered one gloomy Saturday when I was stuck inside and I randomly decided to import my blog to another site. So I kind of "backed up" right?? To make a long story short, I ended up finding all my old posts, re-vamping the entire site and deciding to go with On Sugar.com for the continuation of Bedazzles After Dark. Turns out this option is a lot better than what I was using. Plus I actually enjoyed going back through my old posts (like this one or this one) It felt like I was breathing life into my writing and I remembered why I started this whole gig in the first place. And in true Carrie style *I couldn't help but wonder* if this was where Bedazzles After Dark's home was supposed to be the whole time.

Well ladies... The hour is upon us!! The long awaited Sex & The City 2 premieres tonight at midnight! I would 100% be going tonight but my two girlfriends and I have made a pact to see it together and we could only get together next weekend. So while I wait 10 long days (and I do mean looooong days) I thought I would showcase Sarah Jessica Parker acting like a normal everyday woman who recycles certain clothes and also taking some style cues from her alter ego Carrie Bradshaw.
SJP rocked this white Stella McCartney Blazer while stopping by David Letterman on Wednesday. I did a double take after seeing this and ran back to find the first time we spotted her jacket: A Bravo party back in March! I love that she has used it to cover her dresses. The proportions are spot on and I love the sleeves on the blazer. Both dresses have style and flair so add some chunky jewelry and she's turned a menswear look into feminine chic. Then I thought I recognized those blue Nicholas Kirkwood sandals...
And I had! Sarah Jessica channeled Carrie B a few weeks ago when doing an interview with Access Hollywood. Her Proenza Schouler dress and black shirt pair perfectly with her blazer. It's as if she matched everything while mixing it up at same time (If that makes any sense). Plus she tied in the pink blazer with the pink trim in the sandals. SJP also showed up at a SATC2 after party with lightened locks - homage to Ms. Bradshaw perhaps? I love that the Nicholas Kirkwood pumps bright up her whole outfit and just pop. Ahem. Sarah Jessica has said that playing such a style risk taker like Carrie has allowed her to become much bolder with her fashion choices. Personally I love both of these looks. And I love that she isn't afraid to pair her bright and colorful shoes with many outfits. Perfect inspiration for us normal gals!
Early this winter you couldn't spot the actress without her bubblegum pink Bonnie Bag from Diane De Maria. The bright color cheered up even the dreariest of NYC days. And she proved it can be paired with jeans, dresses and even black snow boots! So fabulous.
Although these aren't the same dress I would still consider this style recycling. Bright yellow one shoulder dresses with neutral shoes. Yellow is quite a hard color to pull off - especially when it's as embellished or electric as these choices. But she looks flawless and stunning. Her sparkly Lanvin is incredible and Sarah Jessica was the center of attention while she attended this year's ShoWest in Las Vegas. I hate black shoes with yellow so I love the pink and metallic pumps. At the SATC2 New York premiere she paired her gorgeous Valentino gown with deep silver Ferragamo pumps. I am loving that her hair is blonde again creating this whole glow about her. Now if I could just figure out how to get those perfect curls...
