When The Impeccable Pig's Cameron Village location asked me to come by and style some of their new arrivals I couldn't get my feet in the door fast enough. As one of my favorite stores probably ever and most definitely in the Raleigh area, I don't think I could have survived our cross country move without it! Everything in the store is totally wearable and budget friendly. It's the kind of place I could spend hours in. Plus the girls are so incredibly sweet! Love them!

 

Now, we all know I am a city girl through and through (and if you didn't well now you do!) but imagine my surprise when Leah, the manager, showed me this Judith March skirt while I was browsing the racks. Let me just tell you, I surprised myself by how much I fell in love with it. One swing of the fringey pieces and the next thing I knew, I was asking for a chambray shirt and running a total city-girl-meets-the-country moment in my head. Don't ask my why, but it would be safe to say the skirt has special powers. I most definitely noticed an extra sassy step in my walk when I came out of the dressing room.

Either way, I wanted to keep the vibe true to my style. Through layers of gold jewelry, messy hair and a chic wedge bootie, my country inspired look was much more city girl-esque. Yay! Plus I think this skirt would be a fantastic transitional piece from winter into spring. Imagine it with brown tights and riding boots now.. and then later with a chic sandal and neon tank for summer! So fun, right? Sometimes there's nothing like a great outfit to perk up a Monday morning!

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching which means it's time to start planning your outfit! V-Day is one of those holidays that you either love or hate. I was never really the biggest fan of the hoopla. I'm not exactly what you would call a romantic... But now we enjoy it because we decide the best way for us to celebrate. So that could mean going to a movie, eating a fancy dinner or even sharing a bottle of bubbly and hanging out at the house. One year I even watched scary movies with my girlfriends - now that was a good one :)  Valentine's Day is what you decide to make of it!

So here are 3 ways for you it. Whether it's a casual affair, dinner after work or an all out Valentine's celebration you can party in many different outfits. I love a good casual boyfriend jean but neon pink heels give the outfit a feminine twist. And if you're a working gal, you might not have time to change before meeting your sweetie out. Let's get real - what little girl didn't love twirling around in a bright pink tutu? I know I did! I'd put my ballet outfits on even when it wasn't time for me to go to the studio. There's something about a big ball of tulle that just makes a girl feel so giddy, am I right?

Well now that we're [kind of] adults it's time to bring back the tutu! But no, please. Don't make it bright pink and definitely don't make it short. The grown-up tutu skirt is now referred to as "The Tulle Skirt". Most of them are midi length and have been all the rage lately. I for one have had this Space 46 Boutique option on my wish list ever since I came across them on instagram one day. It seems to hit right at the knee, making it not quite a midi length, but still very ladylike. Can we also talk price? It's only 68 bucks!! That is a freaking steal compared to the almost $200 one Anthropologie put out last fall.

So here are 3 super fun (and super adult) ways I'd style this piece. The first outfit has a slightly western feel between the ankle booties and comfy sweater. The GiGi clutch keeps it feminie and girly. The second ensemble is a mix between comfy and casual. I mean, what outfit doesn't look good with a chambray button up, statement necklace and glitter heels? Last, but definitely not least, is just for this blog's namesake. A sequin top, chunky mirrored mules and the new version of my favorite watch are just what I need for my dream grown-up tutu outfit.

Now Trending: Ruffle Hem Trumpet Skirts

The more I think about it.. the more excited about Fall I get. And with a change in season usually comes a change in trends. However there is one chic piece from Spring/Summer that I'm excited about transitioning to the cooler months. The Trumpet Hem Skirt. I feel like since I've moved here - we've had nothing but dreary weather. It's either been ridiculously cool or raining cats & dogs. Luckily my mom and I snapped these during lunch when the rain finally took a break (for 15 minutes)

 

Whoever said you can't wear sequins in the daytime obviously never met me. As you know my motto is "wear something sparkly everyday" and yesterday was no exception! I decided to beat the drizzle with this fab sequin top and a bright pink bow. I mean you can't not smile when you see either - right?

 

Plus let's discuss my new favorite Belliza Knight earrings! Aren't they gorg? The yellow enamel flowers are from the 1920's (eeeeeeek!) Then the rest is handmade by a brilliant designer - Brinker. My mom & I fell in love with her vintage inspired creations when we attended her jewelry sale last week. You've GOT to check her pieces out - I promise you won't be disappointed.

Pinspiration: Wedge Sneakers

 

Okay... so I need your help. I've been wavering on the wedge sneaker trend for a while. I bought a pair last year but ended up returning them after thinking I couldn't pull them off. But for some reason they've stayed on my mind. And after finding these clearance, I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could work them into my style. So where did I turn to get some inspiration? Pinterest of course! And I found a ton of ideas on how to wear this wedge sneaker trend.  This is the perfect combo of my favorite dressing up/dressing down option. The skirt & sparkly sweater add a dressy element to the casual tan sneakers yet the ensemble still looks effortlessly cool. Love!

Before we left LA a few weeks ago, the weather was having some serious issues. 1 minute it would be cool and cloudy. Then, the sun would decided to pop out for a brief hello only to disappear back into the clouds (along with the warm temperatures) We snapped these on a day in late March when the high was 60 - which by LA standards, is pretty cool. :)
 

Have you guys heard of Color By Amber jewelry before? I recently discovered their pieces and instantly fell in love with them. I think the eco-resin/Lucite pieces are the best. They're waterproof making them the perfect beach accessory (I wore them in Hawaii) This particular necklace is part of the Vibrante collection that is made from fabric found within the Oaxaca hills. Since each piece is cut from a different weave of the material, no 2 pieces are alike. Which makes them each unique in their own way. How fab is that? Plus, every item is eco-friendly & sustainable. Yay!

I am literally jumping out of my printed pants because of today's post - yes it's that exciting! Over the summer I discovered Kelly's blog Messy Dirty Hair and fell in love with her honest and open approach to everything. I absolutely loved this high-low frock but I wanted to dress it down a bit - make it more casual. Our L.A. weather has been so fickle lately so layering is key around here. I turned the dress into a skirt (one of my favorite styling tips by the way) and paired it with my go-to sparkly silver sweater. Then I played up the neutral palate with some brown ankle booties, a pink/nude necklace and this gem of a fedora I took from my dad's closet. My favorite part about this outfit? It can be worn fall or spring - super transitional! Oh and not to mention comfy!
