You guys... My search for the perfect distressed skinny jean is OVER. I've been looking for months (a year really) for the perfect pair of skinny jeans, that were lightly distressed (apparently some designers go crazy with a blade) and still wearable for date night (a.k.a. a nice dark rinse)

I scored these destroyed beauties from non other than... American Eagle! Yes, I know! I was just as surprised as you were. I had pretty much exhausted all my options (within a reasonable budget that is) and I popped into their store just to "see what they had".  I had no idea they had really stepped up their denim game! Right now they've got every style, shape, color. Really anything you could want. I was so impressed I bought these grey skinny jeggings (wearing them today) as well as these destroyed light wash skinny jeans.

Date night is one of my favorite nights, but it's doubly exciting when we do a Double Date night. I threw on my new jeans, my favorite white blouse and some printed pumps. All I needed after that was a gold necklace and sequin clutch to finish it off. In my head, this is the dressed up date night version of "Jeans & a Tee". Not too fancy... Not too casual.  Super comfy, yet you still look very put together.

 TGIF Friends! I am SO excited that it's not only the weekend but that it's also a 3-Day one!! Just the thought of an extra day at the beach is helping me get through the rest of today. Do you guys have any fab Memorial Weekend plans? I hope it involves a bathing suit, a cool beverage and lots of R&R cause that's what I plan to do! 

 

P.S. is anyone else into the Black & Brown combo as much as I am right now? Remember when it used to be such a no-no (kind of like red & pink?) I personally love the pairing - especially when you throw in some leopard print a.k.a. the best neutral ever! Do you have any secret loves for weird color combos?

I love experimenting with my wardrobe. I definitely like to take risks and try new options - why be boring?? I've been wanting to try mixing patterns for a while but had yet to really dive in (I did try florals and leopard together on a smaller scale here) My first choice was to test the waters with stripes, but so far I can't find a striped top I love (that and a denim chambray have been so challenging for me..) So I thought why not try it with shoes?

 

I've had these leopard booties for a while and I wear them with TONS of pieces in my closet. Jeans, Skirts, Shorts - they're a fab go-to when you need a dash of playfulness. The watercolor print skirt isn't too over powering which makes it a perfect complement with the leopard print. I kept the rest of it simple with a slightly sparkly silver sweater and a whimsical elephant statement necklace.

Friday night we got a special treat while having a double date with some friends! Dinner on the outdoor deck at Typhoon, a restaurant at the private Santa Monica Airport. As we ate our dumplings and pad thai noodles, we had a front row seat to watch the small planes fly in and out of the LA Sunset.

Thought we could start Monday off with something lovely that's on my current wish list! These adorable leopard smoking flats/loafers have been spotted all over the blog circuit lately. I too have been struck by this new twist on the latest leopard craze. However shelling out almost $300 for a pair won't be happening anytime soon so I'm determined to find a look for less. I'll be sure to post the options when I find them. As I have stated time and time again - I love leopard!! A few weeks ago I was invited to attend the Malibu Inn Grand Opening for LAX Magazine [more on that to come!] I was so excited and I knew that it would be the perfect time to break out my leopard booties that I got in May! While I was getting ready for work (the event was on a Thursday night) I was feeling inspired by my outfit pick for the party so I decided to throw on a little daytime animal print too. So here's how I wore leopard two different ways on the same day:

I've been on the hunt for some leopard booties ever since this post. I actually found those amazing Rock & Republic shoes one day from a sale on HauteLook. But due to a sizing issue they sadly never worked and I was back on the trail again. After searching and searching for another option that was cute and affordable [key word!] I came across these adorable booties a few weeks ago. I was shocked when I saw they were from Charlotte Russe and only 35 bucks! I immediately purchased them and they arrived today cheering my Tuesday right up! Even though we're about to hit summer I figure I still have a few days left to wear them and they'll be perfect for all my fall outfits! Do you love? Lusting After: Leopard Ankle Booties

In fashion, there's a never ending cycle of always thinking two steps ahead. Winter campaigns are shot in the middle of summer and Spring/Summer shows are held in the middle of September. So even though we aren't out of the summer season yet - fall is still right around the corner. And I've found myself mentally preparing a checklist of what's in my closet. Options include faux fur, dark nail polish and lots and lots of boots. However, one pair of booties I found earlier this summer have been on my mind constantly (and my wish list!)

Rock and Republic's Angie ankle boot. They just scream glam and we have already covered my affection for leopard. I'm in love with the turned down cuff - a fav of mine on booties - just gives it a little something extra.  I've been dying to get my hands on these to pair with slouchy boyfriend jeans, skinnies or tights and a black dress. Not brave enough to go the leopard route? No worries - they come in sold black or grey with silver studs. Mah-jor! But my inspiration? The always fabulous and gorg Erin Wasson.

Rodar-tay for Tar-jay

Ok so I am a little bit late on this post - I've been soooo busy working at the store (non-stop! it's been crazy but that's a good thing!) but I had to write something about the launch of Rodarte for Target (pronounced row-dar-tay for those of you who don't know) that happened this past Sunday. Jamie (one of the amazing minds behind ban.do) and I have been soooo excited about this and talking about it for months. I literally came home from work on Saturday so excited - it was like Christmas Eve and I didn't think I was going to be able to sleep. Then Jamie called me, in a panic/excited state. One of the targets near us put it out early and there was absolutely no one there!!!! So I raced over there (to the utter confusion of Billy - men will never understand the things we women do for fashion) and literally tried on every single piece in the collection. my cart pretty much looked like this and the dressing room attendent was none too pleased with me:

There were two pieces that I knew I was going to get for sure but I wanted to try everything on. While I knew this collection wasn't going to be the best quality I was still pretty pleased with the pieces I ended up purchasing. The leopard dress is literally ah-mazing. It's got these cute bows going down the back that give it that vintage feel. The amazingly beautiful Dakota Fanning modeled it for Teen Vogue December/January issue (wow has she grown up!)

So cute! It's short so totally do-able both the rest of winter with tights and spring! But the piece that I was most excited about and was soooooo happy they had my size was the leopard print jacket

it is sooooo fantastic. I had a target gift card from my mother in law Patrisia that allowed me to get this jacket - score! Otherwise I would have been in big time trouble with my hubby... The third piece I took home was a wild card - an orchid pink top with an adorable bow on the neck.

I grabbed it in my frenzy to try everything on and it was the only other piece I truly liked on me. Super girly and lots of fun. The color is very reminiscent of this Rodarte gown Natalie Portman wore to the Oscars this past February.

Overall I enjoyed the collection even though a few of the pieces were definiely not for me (either fit was off or just not my taste). I am super satisfied with my purchases and already planning on when I can wear everything. The only thing I wasn't able to grab were those cute bow belts or lace tights. Oh well - I guess I can't really complain anyways. I got everything I truly needed :) I'm already dreaming about Zac Posen's line for April.... xoxo
