Pantone Color of the Year 2013: Emerald!

Have you guys heard the news? Pantone has announced 2013's color and it's Emerald! A gorgeous and lovely choice if I do say so myself.  Pantone's experts are calling it a "lively, radiant, lush green" which sounds fabulous. I was actually inspired by this color last year, so I'm thrilled that it's showing up again for the next year.

Pantone believes Emerald will be a major trend for both Fashion & Beauty saying that it's "classic elegance makes for striking and irresistible women’s formal and everyday wear as well as accessories" We'll probably be seeing a lot of green eye makeup as well since it's a "perfect complement to peaches, pinks, roses, ruby reds and aubergines – offering a variety of lipstick and blush options." Oh and stay tuned since Pantone + Sephora are planning "Beauty Of The Year" collaboration featuring this gorgeous jewel tone!

So what do you guys think? Are you planning on scooping up this color in tops, tees, dresses, jewels etc...? I'm sure I will! Happy Friday!! xoxo

In ♥ With This: Zara Color Block Sandal x's 2

{Zara Color Block Basic Sandal in Red/Purple & Teal/Blue}

These two lovelies should be arriving today around 10 AM via my new best friend, the UPS man. Unfortunately, for my husband and my wallet, I don't think I'd ever be able to decide between them. So it's only natural to keep them both - after all they're completely different... right...?

Currently Inspired By: Neon Color!

Bright neon colors aren't just for cheesy bar signs or 80's nostalgia parties anymore. Riding hot on the coattails of last Spring's color trend (here & here), this season we're seeing a much bolder version of these shades. Everything from beauty products, to clothing to jewelry (even hair color) are being drenched in these fun hues. If you follow me on Facebook or Pinterest you know how much I am obsessing over neon right now - especially since I'm such a color lover! And I plan on taking every opportunity to rock this look while it's still in. Although it's a very fine line between tasteful and overkill with neon, I've picked out some photo inspiration for incorporating it into your wardrobe. Have fun lovelies!!

Get on the neon denim train while you can! There are plenty of on-trend stores that carry bright colors for even better prices. Try Forever 21, Target (yes Target!), Zara and H&M. I would recommend a white tee and blazer or if you're feeling adventuresome - color block!

You can't go wrong with a handful of neon - one of the easiest ways to add a little spark to your look! I suggest sticking to one shade rather than multiple, but this should at least give you inspiration on what kind of colors to look for (adore that green!)

Neon even looks good on a maxi....

... Or short like this neon number. Keep your accessories basic and you'll be a total knockout (80's hair not required!)

I've been looking for a fabulous neon statement necklace to go with my basic white tee and jean cutoffs for summertime. Someone suggested a DIY with neon nail polish and old costume jewelry - how smart!!

Neon Oreos!! So pretty to look at & Yummy to eat!

Look Of The Day: Elizabeth Banks in Canary Yellow Bill Blass

It's official my friends! Canary Yellow is the new color of the season! I've been spotting it everywhere and trying to figure out how I can incorporate it into my own wardrobe. So imagine my delight when I came across a serious gush-worthy look that's pure inspiration for a glamorous yellow ensemble (did you ever think you'd hear those words?) Elizabeth Banks, who stars in the new Twilight Hunger Games series showed up to the London premiere looking like a ray of sunshine - literally. Her glittering canary Bill Blass column gown brought a shining burst of color to the movie premiere's red carpet. I'm sure all eyes were on her, this dress and all it's sequined glory. And the back... I mean, seriously! You know how much I obsess over a good open back dress! So lovely. I wish I had that dress hanging in my tiny closet or better yet on my body right now! Additionally, I adore the quirky yellow Judith Leiber clutch she chose to pair it with. A soft tousled updo and some sparkling Irene Neuwirth earrings top it all off. E Banks - you are PERFECTION! Happy Friday my loves!!

Outfit Idea: J. Crew Spring 2012

Happy Monday everyone!! After a lengthy workout sweat-a-thon on Saturday, I went looking for some style and fashion inspiration down at the 3rd street promenade. And I ended up spending the better part of the afternoon and early evening there! As much I enjoy going to stores with my mom or friends, I always welcome a solitary shopping stroll. I get to go at my own pace, try on as many outfits as I want and take my time perusing each and every store I want. This weekend I saw a collective theme for spring that we all know is going to be HUGE - color! So I found some images from J. Crew's spring collection that I hope will inspire you to create some bright and bold outfits. Enjoy!

Love this one!

Lovely sparkles and scalloped shorts!

Currently Inspired By: Emerald Green

Green With Envy

Sorry for the lack of posts - our household has been a bit crazier than normal! But I couldn't resist sharing my latest obsession - Emerald Green! Celebs have been showing up everywhere wearing glittering green gowns, enchanting emerald jewels and color-blocked choices in this fabulous hue. I, for one, am completely obsessed with this trend! And though I've yet to find a shimmering Gwyneth or Zoe "Steal Her Look For Less" option, I have started small:

Zoya "Ivanka" Nail Polish
How perfect is this Zoya glitter green nail polish?! I'm so in love with it! Now on to the perfect glittering column gown... Happy Thursday everyone! xoxo

Look Of The Day: Freida Pinto in Salvatore Ferragamo

Freida Pinto at the premiere of Black Gold

The always gorgeous Freida Pinto wore a lovely berry colored pleated gown from Salvatore Ferragamo during the Tribeca Film Festival last week. The Grecian inspired look, including a soft updo, absolutely knocked it out of the park for me. I LOVE the tassel belt and all her gold-toned accessories. All in all, it's a completely stunning ensemble.

As we delve further into the winter months, I've decide to keep my brights going as long as possible. It doesn't get extremely cold here in LA but you can further you're bold options by pairing them with basics like black tights and long sleeve tees. You could even trade out the typical black dress and go for a long gown in a jewel tone [like the above] as a fabulous option for your Holiday parties or formal New Year's Ball. I guarantee that your vibrant choice will have you wearing a smile on your face the entire evening. Happy Wednesday! xoxo

Steal Her Look For Less: Hot Pink Clutch

Celebrities everywhere have been punching up their spring and summer looks with a fabulous accessory choice: A Hot Pink Clutch. Since it's pretty well known that I love anything pink - I am super excited about trying this trend out. With color all the rage for the past few seasons you can pair this handbag with ANY outfit and it would look amazing. I've got some celebrity choices to give you a few pointers and of course some affordable options for you to try!

Two of my style icons, Diane Kruger and Olivia Palermo, definitely proved that pink and other colors are a must combo. While Diane paired hers with a lace Vionnet dress for a Paris celebration, Olivia went bright color blocking with her tangerine Victoria Beckham dress (look familiar?) The color just pops on both outfits! Glee's resident germ-a-phob counselor Jayma Mays paired her Rebecca Minkoff clutch with a striped sparkling Reem Acra cocktail dress showing that hot pink is totally appropriate for a formal function. Try it at your next summer wedding! And finally one look I can't wait to try - Hot Pink with Neutrals (well I guess I already tried this!) Actress Michelle Monaghan let her handbag shine while attending a dinner in honor of Tory Burch. She paired the designer's Quinn dress with nude Christian Louboutin pumps and fuss free curly hair. All around love.

Here are some options for you to try! For more ideas I'd pair one of the textured clutches with a plain LBD or LWD. I've got tons of weddings and showers to go to this summer/fall. Hopefully I'll be able to do this more than once for a fresh look! p.s. if you want Olivia Palermo's exact clutch it's the Sondra Roberts' one from Nordstrom! :) Happy Trending!

Steal Her Look For Less: Celebrities in Gucci Spring/Summer 2011

Olivia Wilde attends the Gucci cocktail Party in a Gucci silk jumpsuit, Heels and Clutch on January 25th 2011 Kerry Washington donned a plunging Gucci dress to the Mary J. Blige Honors Concert

I've been obsessing over the fact that COLOR! is so major right now! Based on the runways of Jil Sander, Versace, Jason Wu, Proenza Schouler, DKNY and so many more, it was a known fact that your wardrobe must be bright! And while sometimes color can be a little scary for those who stick to a neutral pallete, I think it's a great way to spruce up your look. This season's Gucci collection has been all about the color. Rich jewel tones with splashes of Gold make up the base while cut-outs and plunging necklines are just a few of the added details that make the S/S pieces so special. Plus I've noticed TONS of celebrities wearing the line over the past few months. Olivia Wilde and Camilla Belle are just a few...

Jennifer Lawrence [looking AMAZING] and Katy Perry wear Gucci on magazine covers

And as of two weeks ago, Gucci S/S 2011 clothing has actually been featured on over 50 magazine covers [not to mention all the editorials I've seen too]. Pretty fabulous! I was totally inspired by this collection [take a look at the print campaign here and the runway show here] and determined to find some looks for less to add into my closet. I found that one store was delivering big time with this trend: Zara. I had been hunting everywhere for a Pink Maxi skirt that could match a look I saw at S/S 2011 Jil Sander runway show and Ashley texted me with a find! $60 bucks at Zara! (Hey that beats the 985 price tag!) So I rushed over to the Santa Monica Promenade location. The minute I walked into the store it was as if the rainbow exploded all over the place - in the best possible way. Oranges, Pinks, Greens and Blues were everywhere and in basic pieces like blazers, pants, mini skirts. I was in color heaven! I've always liked Zara but after all the pieces I fell in love with now I am obsessed! I want to share my finds with you dear readers but unfortunately for us, Zara doesn't have a U.S. online shopping site. However you can click on each piece below and be directed to the right place on the site to find what you're looking for. There you can find the colors and sizes that each one comes in and stalk your nearest Zara.
Gucci For Less - Zara Spring

Plus I think there are so many more options than this actually in the store - you've just got to search for them! (That blue dress is so gorgeous and comes in Green, Pink, Yellow and White! Perfect for an outdoor wedding!) If you scoop anything up - let me know what you find.. I promise that you will not be disappointed!! :)

Skittles - Wear The Rainbow: Bright Color Spring Trend

If you haven't noticed, one of of the biggest trends for spring isn't exactly a "new trend" so much as it is appearing all over the place this season. COLOR! We've already covered two of the major colors (Cobalt and Coral) but now it seems that any shade of the rainbow will be seen over the next few months. I can't wait to try colored denim & a fabulous dress in one bright, bold shade for this trend. But if perhaps those choices are as little too daring or aren't your favorite way to express color (though I think you can handle it!) - I've put together a few accessory ideas that any gal (lover of colors or neutral tried & true) can add to her wardrobe.
My personal favorite way to wear color right now - Hot Pink Lipstick. I included Covergirl's new Lip Perfection lipstick in Spellbound because I LOVE this shade and the lipstick itself. It's the perfect hot pink color and super affordable. It is really creamy, moisturizing and doesn't flake. Continued use of it will keep your lips silky and smooth. Keep your other makeup suttle - I do mascara and a little bronzer only - when trying this trick. Some other easy options are a nail polish in a hue you normally might not sport (check out that teal/minty shade) or some pink sunglasses. But if you want to go a bit bigger let's take a look at some celebrity style that you can steal and make your own.
Nicole Richie was spotted wearing an all black ensemble and a punch of Lime Green with her Balenciaga bag. Hers will set you back about $1,400 but I've found some fabulous bright options that will be kind to your budget. Add one for an instant outfit lift. Jessica Biel has also been spotted in a blue Hublot watch that features a blue rubber band. The price on her selection: $23,300. But you can pick up the same casual style for way less than a fraction of that price. Try wearing flats with a funky shade (love these ASOS pink/purple combo) or pair a bright slingback with a LBD/LWD.
Lastly we come to my new favorite way to pep up an outfit - the colored bra. Rhianna wore an orange lacy one with her crisp white button down a few summers ago. The trick to this look is that you want to look sexy and hot instead of trampy. Keep your look casual with denim cutoffs, boyfriend jeans and long maxi dresses. Don't wear sky high heels - stick to gladiator sandals. If you choose to go with the lacy route - pick a bold color and steer clear of blacks, whites and nudes. Lastly - combine two spring trends by wearing a sporter version under a loose flowy tank top. With Coachella right around the corner this would be a fabulous choice.

Don't feel obligated to stick to my selections here - try out your own! In fact this season it's all about mixing and matching color combinations. The possibilities are endless! Send me pics if you try out the trend - love to feature you on the blog! Happy Coloring loves! xoxo
