Outfit Post: Throwback Thursday with Boohoo

Today, I've teamed up with Boohoo as part of their Throwback Thursday Style Icon series. Have you shopped Boohoo before? They're an amazing UK-based retailer site with tons (and I mean TONS) of affordable fashion selections. They've got everything from dresses, rompers, accessories and midi skirts.

When I started thinking about style icons, there were a few that came to mind. But the one who stood out to me the most was, obviously SJP's character Carrie Bradshaw. I love that she takes risks and wears what she wants - something I try to to emulate in my daily wardrobe choices. Sure, maybe not everything I do works, but I enjoy playing with clothes and fashion. It's supposed to be fun! Remember that iconic outfit from the 2nd Sex and the City movie? This one:

I've always loved this outfit because of the idea of mixing casual pieces with more dressier items. It's something I do A LOT. Plus it helps stretch your clothing further. (Did you know that skirt is actually the underskirt of a Zac Posen gown? So amazing!)

So, naturally I wanted to re-create a similar style and throw it back to Carrie's amazing "Abu Dhabi Souk" outfit.

How To Wear Midi Skirt for Spring

I totally wanted to have a Carrie Bradshaw moment with this floral print midi skirt and an afternoon event I attended last Saturday was the perfect occasion. Since it started at 1:00 pm, I paired it with one of my favorite, but totally neutral, tees. This way the skirt didn't feel too dressed up for an afternoon fashion show.

Full Printed SKirt - Valentino Rockstud Sandal Look Alike

Not only is this skirt oh-so #TBT Carrie Bradshaw, but the large floral print makes it perfect for spring! I can't wait to style it in several other ways. Oh and did I mention it has a matching crop top that goes with it. That too, can totally be a Carrie Bradshaw moment!

Outfit Post: Black or Navy Polka Dots?

Julie Vos Grande Soho Necklace (gifted) || Michael Kors "Bradshaw" Watch || Blu Bijoux Bangles c/o Max & Chloe (sold out - but love this similar option) || Sole Society Sunglasses (love these)

So in person, this shirt is black. The tag even said the color was "Ebony." But, after we photographed this outfit, it kind of looks navy. Which I really don't mind all that much since I'm kind of into the black-navy color combination. So let's just pretend I did it on purpose. Maybe you can help me decide if it's black or navy.

I wore this a few weeks ago for a double date night with some friends of ours. Sometimes, I just need to wear a black-on-navy black ensemble with my new favorite color: Gold. Okay, so it's not my "new" favorite color, but I'm becoming increasingly obsessed with it. Remember when you were younger, and you were like "I'm only wearing silver jewelry." Well, that was me. And that's the thing I love about fashion. You can totally change your mind. Which I proudly do on the reg.

I also have some exciting news for local Raleigh/Durham gals! The award winning fashion documentary "Versailles 73: American Runway Revolution" is coming to town for a one night only screening. And I've been asked to participate in a panel discussion afterwards! I would LOVE to see you there. All the details can be found on the below invite or here. Tickets are now on sale and it's the perfect excuse to get dressed up with your friends and have a girls night out!

Hope to see you there! Happy Tuesday! Also hello 2015! :) xoxo

Target's Dip Dye Trend: Not Just For Your Hair!

I'm so excited to share my new partnership with Target! Over the next few weeks I'll be bringing you a series of posts that will showcase spring style and how you can get your hands on these trends. Dip Dye is first up on the list and we already know how much I love that (ummm have you seen my hair?)

But we're taking it a bit further with this ombré style and incorporating it into our wardrobe! Here's how I tried it...

The closer the calendar reaches spring & summer the more I want to start wearing cutoff shorts, sandals & tanks! It also means trips to the beach for this SoCal lady! So I took my new favorite Denim Dip Dye Tote along for a spin this weekend. I can see how this bag could easily become my new favorite carry-all (it hold everything) But I really love the coloring! It's so bright, unique and perfect for spring. Plus, the denim will go with anything in your wardrobe. I've got a trip to Hawaii coming up and I have a feeling this will be new best friend!

I took it with the beach to me yesterday (wearing this outfit) (well minus the necklace - threw that in the tote last minute to put on after the beach when we strolled along the promenade and had a very happy hour.) This tote was a perfect companion to my maxi dress & floppy hat - something every girl has in their wardrobe! While Bill was playing volleyball, all the ladies at the courts told me howmuch they loved the bag and said they could wait to visit Target to scoop it up.

Here's a few more Target pieces that you can score (talk about affordable!) and start adding to your summer ombré wardrobe:

How perfect would this ombré fedora be for summer concerts? Plus for the price, you could nab it in all 4 colors!

My love affair with sweatshirts continue! I'd dress this one up with printed pants and my favorite pair of heels

I practically live in my cutoffs during the summer! A dip dye pair with a white tee, sky high wedges and statement necklace is what I plan to live in until September.

What about you? Do you plan on trying Dip-Dye? I can't wait to see if you do!

It’s Time for Springtime.

Windy Weekend [photos]

How are we back to Monday already? These weeks are just flying by! We saw some major weather here in Los Angeles (pouring rain, rough winds, chilly temps) but all in all it was a fun few days off!

Thursday Pursuit of Shoes and I went to the DailyBuzz Style blogger event held at Madewell. We had so much fun shopping the Spring collection, meeting new bloggers and even joined in on a Twitter Scavenger hunt! Thanks for the fun Pursuit & DailyBuzz Style!

I've been a very busy shopping bean! From neons to florals to stripes I couldn't help but pick up some fun options from a few of my favorite stores. Look for them in my upcoming outfit pics!

Saturday I finally got a much needed haircut and touch up ombré hair color from the FABULOUS Ashleigh over at Forme Salon. She wants to turn the world blonde one head at a time and I guess it's working because we went much lighter on my ends. I love it! Thanks Ash!

March Madness was in full swing this weekend so we biked down to Barney's Beanery for fun St. Patrick's day with lots of basketball, good friends and yummy beer.

Posted a mini outfit pic on my Facebook Page that you guys loved! I sported my favorite worn in boyfriend jeans with a pop of my signature color - super comfy and lots of fun!

Hope you guys had a great weekend!! xoxo

I Tried It: Ombré Hair Color Part Deux

As much as I love to try unique fashion, new beauty trends and fun hairstyles I usually am a MAJOR baby when it comes to changing my hair. I used to color my hair red/auburn about 12 years ago and I once chopped off over 10 inches of locks my sophomore year of college. But that's about as far as it goes when it comes to drastic change. I'm still that girl who goes to the salon and says "Only 1/4 of an inch please" But when 2011 came around I was determined to make this year fun and different. In part of this "Year of Change" I took a major leap and decided to have my hair professionally colored. I ended up absolutely loving the ombré effect on my hair. However, there were a few issues I noticed afterwards. First, she only colored the bottom half of my hair so it was mostly just peaking through the top pieces. Almost none of the outer hair layers were colored. She also did huge streaky chunks instead of blending the color throughout the pieces. Don't get me wrong - I still loved the change and for a color-virgin it was a great introduction. But 6 months later I'm officially bitten by the dye-bug. I've been itching to get it re-done and for it to be correct! Since my birthday is Friday (Eeeee! I'll be 25!!!) I thought I would gift myself with a little present. So, long story short, I got a recommendation from the owner of the same salon I went to back in January and this time I was definitely not let down!! Check it out...!

I Tried It: Reader Edition

Hi Lovelies! I know how much I love to share with you when I try something new but it makes me even more excited when YOU try something you have seen featured on BAD! So for today's post I am showcasing two readers who sent me pics of new trends they decided to try!

First up is Witty Whit from San Fransico (You may remember her from when I Guest Posted for her blog a few weeks back). She doubled the trends for her bachelorette party in Vegas this past weekend (hate I missed it!) trying both Ombré Nail Polish and Hot Pink Lipstick.

Whit trying Ombré pink nails and Hot Pink lipstick [Note she couldn't find Spellbound so she used Siren instead] You look fabulous Whit!

Next up is another BAD reader Brittany. She lives in Colorado and was inspired by my first outfit post where I paired a long maxi skirt with a plain white tee and jazzed it up with accessories. Here's Britt's take on it:

Britt was excited to pair her flowing skirt with a simple white tee. She also layered on some necklaces and stacked a few bracelets on her wrist for perfect accessory choices. Guess what else she's wearing...?Sole Society shoes in the Libby style. In her words "The Best!" Great minds think alike! :)

Thanks so much to these ladies for sharing their style with me! Have you tried something out that you've seen on BAD - send me a quick photo and I'd love to feature you on the blog! bedazzlesafterdark@gmail.com Don't be shy! Happy Tuesday everyone!!
