7x7 Remix: Learn To Shop Your Closet!

Today is the day! It's finally time to reveal the 7x7 remix challenge. I was really excited when Ma Nouvelle Mode asked me to co-host and began planning my outfits immediately. At first I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to create enough options, but once I started switching stuff around I was coming up with outfits that I hadn't ever thought of!

I ended up creating 7 remixed looks and then 3 bonus looks on top of that proving that you can shop your closet and make pieces in your wardrobe new again. This challenge is also really great if you're planning on going on a vacation because it will help you get the most out of your clothing without stuffing your suitcase. Here's a reminder of the 7 items I chose:

And here is how I styled the first 7 outfits

Anyone know what day it is?!? It's Hump Day! You guys have seen that Geico camel commercial, right? I'm totally obsessed with it - Hilars.

Want to know how it works? Here's the deets:

*Chose 7 pieces of clothing that you can remix into 7 different outfits

Copy Cat Closet: Winter Neon

When Natalia from Ma Nouvelle Mode contacted me a few weeks ago to host a Copy Cat Closet linkup, I was ecstatic!! If you haven't heard of CCC before, you've got to join in on the fun! So each Thursday a challenge is sent out with something specific to try to copy. Then the following Wednesday you come back to Natalia or Kelley and link up your outfit! (p.s. you don't have to be a blogger to do this! Just link up an instagram photo or a link with a photo of yourself in your look!)

It's so awesome to be challenged each week and it really forces me to shop my closet too! When she said I got to pick the challenge I knew immediately what I wanted to do. Yep you guessed it - Neon! So here are two looks I put together specifically for the challenge:

1st Look:
Neon Pink Tee: Gap (old)
Jeans: Express (old)
Leopard Loafers: Target
Scarf: Zara
Watch: Caravelle by Bulova c/o LuckyFABB

2nd Look:
Neon Yellow Blazer: Zara (old - similar)
Dress: Express (old)
Knuckle Clutch: Arbonne "Comet Cosmetic"
Booties: Jessica Simpson (old)

Obviously you guys know I'm obsessed with neon. So this wasn't too difficult for me. I just paired both my neons with neutrals or basics so that they'd be the stand out piece. I love dressing down this blazer (wore it with cutoffs here) but it's a super fun going out option as well. Pairing it with a LBD was perfect. Also, neon pink & leopard are totally considered neutrals in my wardrobe (I should be embarrassed how many of each I have... but I'm not!) I wore that look during a casual shopping trip at the promenade last week. For more neon winter outfits I've recently worn see this & this

So if you want to link up your outfit - please do so below! I seriously can't wait to see what you ladies do! I have some tips for wearing neon too:
  • If you’re a bit nervous about venturing into Neon… start small! An accessory like a bag or a belt is always easy and something anyone can try.
  • Pick neon colors that you love. I’m obsessed with pink in general so I tend to always be attracted towards oranges, pinks & yellows. If you don’t love the color you won’t love your outfit!
  • Stick to a neutral palette for the rest of your look. Nude shoes, white tees, chambray shirts & boyfriend jeans are always a great companion to neon.
  • Don’t be scared! I rocked 2 neons together and got SO many compliments. The #1 rule when wearing neon – be confident and smile! People will love your outfit if they know you love it!

Outfit Post: Curls & Sequins

Dress worn as top: Rubber Ducky via Anat B. (Love THIS one)
Skirt: H&M
Shoes: Zara
Bag: Vintage
Spike Bracelet: c/o T+J Designs

Okay - my hats off to you bloggers posting outfit pics in the SNOW. It was about 48 degree when we took these pictures.. but with the high winds the temp was about 42. I swear I thought my toes were going to fall off! I know I'm being a baby but here in Southern California that is pretty damn cold!

Here's another Holiday Party outfit for you! This one involves one of my all time favorite dresses that was a Christmas gift last year. It's backless and a tad on the short side (Let's just say it's perfect for Vegas.. haha) so tucking it into a maxi skirt kept it totally party time appropriate, don't you think?

I can't believe how much use I'm getting out of this sheer skirt (seen here & here) It was purchase made on a whim & I'm so glad I did!!

Have you guys been to any holiday parties yet? I need some more ideas on what to wear - let me know what outfits you've donned for the festive time of year!!

*Don't forget to enter my GIVEAWAY for the chance to treat yourself to 100 bucks!!*

Outfit Post: Sequin Holiday

APART "A Million Stars" Dress via HauteLook (almost identical style here)
Shoes: Steve Madden Luxe (old)
Bag: Vintage
Headband: Nordstrom BP (recent)

I've been wanting to do some Holiday Party posts for a while now - but in between our situation with  Jack, Bill's birthday & holiday stress, I haven't had much time. But I wasn't about to miss this week's Copy Cat Closet challenge - SEQUINS! Now, normally you guys know I love sparkle in everyday outfits. But, if you're unsure of bedazzled territory, the holidays are the best excuse to experiment since sequins & glitter are actually encouraged! And though it would be easy for me to go slightly overboard, I kept my first holiday look super tame. :)

How amazing is this dress?! I scored it majorly on sale from HauteLook last November. It's beyond perfect for all my Christmas soirees. I love that it isn't super tight (trying to keep it classy here folks!) but has amazing details like strong shoulders and gunmetal colored sequin discs. The weather in LA has actually been cooperating with the date on the calendar so I picked my favorite Simply Vera tights & black booties to complete the look.

I've been searching for new hair ideas and when I saw this photo from Natalia I instantly fell in love. I just HAD to try it out! Now, I'm totally obsessed! It's not just an ordinary ponytail, but a ponytail with flair y'all! I think the only thing I would change, is to wrap some hair around the ponytail elastic so it's not visible. I picked up this headband in San Diego (15 bucks!) and thought it matched beautifully. Thanks Natalia for challenging me to try something new! :)

Lastly, I didn't quite make it to 300 likes before Sunday as I hoped, but I'm so close! If you haven't "liked" BAD's facebook page - would you be so kind as to hop on over and hit that thumbs up button? I would GREATLY appreciate it! :) Personal pages first, then your blog's page so I can "Like" back! :)

And stay tuned.. I've got a FAB giveaway coming up that I can't WAIT for you to enter!! Who doesn't like free stuff??

Outfit Post: Dressed Up Chambray

Chambray Shirt: Target
Sequin Leggings: Express (old)
Shoes: Zara
Sequin Heart: c/o ban.do
Star Necklace: c/o by boe // Blu Bijoux Pearl Bangles c/o Max and Chloe
Lips: Revlon "Fire & Ice" / Nails: OPI "Deutsche You Want Me Baby"

The day before I left for New York - I hit the chambray jackpot. My longtime hunt was finally over when I scored this denim button up from Target for only 20 bucks! Since it's from the Merona section (meaning it's ladies sizing versus juniors sizing) my only wish is that they had an XS. But after the months-long (yes, as in plural) wild goose chase I had been on, I wasn't about to let it slip through my fingers.

This week's Copy Cat Closet challenge was to dress up your chambray. As soon as the email came through, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. In my sparkly world, sequins and chambray always go together in perfect harmony. These pants are actually one of my favorite pieces that I own. I don't wear them as often as I wish but they are perfect for adding that special something to an outfit.

Do you spot my new favorite accessory? This sequin ban.do heart has been coming with me everywhere lately. In my hair, on my bag, pinned to my clothes. It's a total multi-functioning little piece of heaven. So obsessed with it.

P.S. I just realized my nail polish is totally matching my shoes! Happy accidents with pops of red are the best! Only one more day until the weekend guys.. you're almost there!

Outfit Post: Bright Color Block

I've been wearing these Blu Bijoux beaded bracelets nonstop. They will be seen in many upcoming posts!

Dress: Express (olddddd)
Shoes: Enzo Angiolini (also olddddd)
Wallet: Sundae Sky (on major sale here)
Beaded Bracelets: Blu Bijoux c/o Max & Chloe (Skull, Ball)
Neon Chain Bracelet: The Stylist LA
Lips: Revlon "Wild Orchid" // Nails: Sinful Colors "Neon Melon"

This outfit is special. Okay, not really the outfit per se, but the pieces themselves. I've had this tunic dress for a long time, dare I say, it was actually my 21st birthday dress. The shoes - my rehearsal dinner shoes! Having not worn either item in a very long time, I was excited to shop my closet and pair them together.

I was challenged by Ma Nouvelle Mode to color block and instead of doing the usual top/bottom, I went with a dress/accessory color block. Sure it's bright, but I am loving bold colors right now (who am I kidding - I love them all the time!) Plus, I want to take full advantage before we head into fall!

P.S. isn't this the prettiest street? It's probably one of Bill's favorites - doesn't it look like the palm trees go on for forever?

I also really love this wallet clutch, even if it doesn't hold much more than basic accessories. Exhibit A:

ID, Bank Card, Business Cards, Cash, Phone, and Lipstick

Sometimes, it's fun to rummage through what you've got and re-discover some once lost items. Have you shopped your closet recently? If so, what did you find? Tell me! I love wardrobe inspiration :) Happy Thursday!
