Red Carpet Fashion: Golden Globes 2011

Ok.. Ok.. OK! I know this post is extremely late - I am sorry! Blogging has been on my mind lately - I just haven't had the time to put anything down yet! I guess it's better late than never right ;) So some of you emailed me dying to know my picks for my favorite dresses from Sunday's Golden Globes. I was honestly a little hesitant after every celebrity showed up in a disastrous outfit at last week's People's Choice Awards. I couldn't even pick one look to post about. Zero!!  Last year the Globes brought out great fashion and the show was hilarious! This year - Ricky Gervais took a few below the belt hits and the tone wasn't quite as light. But, thankfully, the fashion was still pretty damn good... So let's check out my picks! :)

Holy Gorgeousness... I died over this dress. Anne Hathaway walked down the carpet practically glistening and I was literally speechless. My husband asked me "Do you like that?" After I picked my jaw up off the ground I said "Of course! Look at it - It's mesmerizing!" Ryan Seacrest (blech..) called it mini-CD's but I just call the Swarovski crystal Armani Prive dress the most gorgeous thing evvvveerrr. Her body is flawless and the hair and makeup is spot on. Then I about fell off the couch when I saw my two favorite things about this dress. 1 - the shoulders. I am totally into sharp sculpted shoulders right now and this looks beyond awesome. 2 - the back totally makes the dress.

Wowza!!! While this dress could have gone another way since she's totally covered up in the front - the scooped back is perfection. Both these details and the shimmering nude color brings fresh air to the style and keeps the gown modern.
Olivia Wilde is one of those style changing chameleons who can basically pull off any hairstyle (hello! remember when she played Alex on the OC... her hair was crazy!), hair color, makeup or dress. I picked her for one of last years Golden Globes best dressed in her kick ass gunmetal Gucci gown and the year before that she had a sweet girly look with this Reem Acra. This year was kind of a combination of both. Her Marchesa gown had princess moments with the full tulle skirt and embroidered sparkles but stayed edgy with the chocolate brown color. I love that while the dress was large she kept simple straight hair and light smokey shadow. Smart girl letting that dress shine. Also did you check out her spikey Louboutin's? They were beyond...

Surprise! A present underneath
I know this photo cuts off the tail end of Catherine Zeta Jones' dress - but I couldn't resist adding a photo of her and Michael Douglas. He announced last week that his tumor was currently gone and he's hopeful with continued check ups that he will continue to be cancer free (yay!) They looked so cute together walking the carpet and I don't think either of them stopped smiling once. Which is probably why CZJ looked radiant in her emerald green Monique Lhuillier gown. Green has been the color as of late and we saw 4 dresses in similar hues on the red carpet but this shade is divine. The rosette detail paired with the gathering of fabric is surprisingly lovely. Catherine added to this gorgeous dress with what else but Van Cleef & Arpels diamond chandelier earrings (totaling over 26 carats!) and her gorgeous wedding rings. Love!
While doing some pre-Golden Globes research I came across this photo (click the link!) of Emma Stone at Friday's Critic's Choice Awards and I was floored! I thought she looked ah-ma-zing. So I was even more thrilled when she showed up on the red carpet wearing this uniquely colored sleek dress. First of all - who knew a gorgeous redhead could also pull off blond so well! She's sporting a tanned glow and I actually enjoy the color of this Calvin Klein dress very much. It's totally different and a little unexpected for the red carpet. Emma also wore an open back dress (are we seeing a new red carpet trend here...) as well as Van Cleef & Arpels jewels (so classic!) She's an all around DO on my list.

These are two honorable mentions (sorry the pics are small - click on them for more detail!) Minus Angelina's crazy bangs (either keep them straight or pin them back lady!) her look was pretty bomb. She too rocked strong shoulders and an open back (though her's was more of a V angle). Her glittering Versace nipped in at the waist and stayed on trend with a gorgeous Emerald color. Thanks for steering clear of black Ange! Claire Danes rocked a pretty strong look at last August's Emmy awards so this time she kept it minimal and simple. In fact she and Emma could almost pass for sisters with their blond hair and sleek bold colored Calvin Klein gowns. Claire's was much more of a pink with a halter neck but she also sported a bare back. I love the simplicity of this look. Sometimes it's hard for me to remember to go simple (my blog is named Bedazzles after all!) But even easy outfits need a little detail - a gorg futuristic Fred Leighton cuff bracelet.

So tell me if you agree with these picks! Do you have some of your own that I didn't include? Please let me know! I love to hear your opinions too. Happy Wednesday everyone!!!
