Get ready to hear this word a lot: transitional. Yep it's basically not going to stop until about November. But when you live here in the south like I do, you just never freaking know what your fall weather is going to be like. One minute it's hot, the next you've got a gorgeous crisp the day and then BAM. The warmth is back again.

Truth be told, I rock shorts with ankle booties time and time again no matter what the season is. (see: Summer || Fall || Winter) So I'm not sure if this really counts as transitional for me. But it's a great time to break out your boots if you've been yearning for them all summer long but haven't been able to take off your Tory Burch sandals. And even though my exact style isn't available, their new 2016 style is basically a duplicate and comes in so many colors!

Outfit Post: Sequin & Beaded Shorts for Winter

It's kind of hard to believe that my 10 year reunion happened in December. I mean sometimes, high school feels like a zillion years ago. But it just doesn't seem right that it's already been 10 years! And when something as crazy and exciting as a reunion is scheduled in the middle of winter, (ummmm.. yeah.. what??) I kind of freaked out about what to wear. But, as usual The Impeccable Pig & Sole Society came to my rescue!

I think the best part of these beaded sequin shorts, is that they can be worn both during the winter and summer. Since it's the middle of December and bare legs usually don't show up until after February, I paired these gorgeous and fun shorts with opaque tights. Kept me warm but my outfit still stayed dressy. In the summer they'll look so good with some strappy sandals and a blousy tank. I seriously can't wait for some warmer temps. I usually base a lot of my purchases on how much wear I can get out of the item. I guess that's what people call.. being an adult?

Sole Society continues to create gorgeous shoes season after season. These fringe ankle boots are going to get LOTS of play in my wardrobe rotation. Hello summer concert shoes! And although I've bought mostly bigger bags from them, this gold shimmer clutch is just what my handbag collection needed. I love that it can go from cross body to night out clutch so easily.

 How fab is this romper?! It's bold and bright, has adorable details (like the ruffle leg opening) and the color couldn't be more girly and fun! I'm obsessed with everything about it. And it's so incredibly comfy (yes for real!) I paired it with my new booties (that you guys when crazy for on instagram) since this one piece is so colorful. Sometimes a nude shoe is just the way to go. I finished off my outfit with tons of mixed metal jewelry because... well why not? I personally love to mix rose gold with platnium and gold. When done right, it's luxurious without being too gaudy. For me, this look is the perfect mixture of edgy glam.

Summer has arrived which means it's shorts season! As always I'm in the mood for brights and this pair from The Impeccable Pig is just pure neon perfection. We had a casual dinner at Beasley's Chicken + Honey on Saturday night so this was my "I don't feel like dressing up too much because it's almost 90 degrees outside" outfit (whew that was a mouthful)

I bought this denim vest at a vintage store a few years ago and I'm always racking my brain on ways to style it.. I thought it would be a fun way to dress down the shorts without having to wear a denim jacket and sweat to death.

The weather hasn't exactly been cooperating with the calendar lately so my compromise right now are ankle booties with shorts and skirts. I think these shorter boots are a fabulous way to transition your spring/summer clothes well into fall. Even adding tights underneath dresses and shorts can help push those pieces into other seasons. Plus I think we're all aware of my bootie obsession. I just can't help it - they go with everything! What about you.. how are you sporting your ankle boots as of late? 

 

We head back to Raleigh on the red eye tonight. Boo-hoo. We've seriously had the best time here in LA. I've been a bit absent on social media and to be honest - it's been really nice to just hit all our favorite spots, old hangouts and spend some quality time with friends Maybe I can make us miss our flight and we'll just have to stay an extra day.
