Wednesday Wish List

Wednesday Wish List

1. Frends Rose Gold "Taylor" Headphones // 2. Graphic Image Metallic Business Card Holder // 3. J. Crew Crystal Flower Bib Necklace // 4. Valentino Rockstud Pump 5. Tracy Anderson Polka Dot Capri Legging

We've been so busy with moving and getting settled that I haven't had time to do any shopping (which my husband will tell you is a good great thing) I've been itching to purchase some new items but for some reason my normal on budget thinking has gone straight out the window. Enter this "Wednesday Wish List - if money were no option" edition. That's okay though.. it's just a "wish list"... right?

What have you been jonesing for lately?

Pinspiration: Wedge Sneakers

Okay... so I need your help. I've been wavering on the wedge sneaker trend for a while. I bought a pair last year but ended up returning them after thinking I couldn't pull them off. But for some reason they've stayed on my mind. And after finding these clearance, I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could work them into my style. So where did I turn to get some inspiration? Pinterest of course! And I found a ton of ideas on how to wear this wedge sneaker trend. Let's take a look at some of my pinspiration....

Miranda Kerr shows us how it's done. Her leather leggings and cable knit sweater are an awesome pairing with her bright red kicks.

I figured there's no better time than spring to bust out these heeled shoes - I love the distressed cutoffs and slouchy tee this model opted for. Might be my new off duty look!

image via

I plan on transitioning these into fall so I love the chunky knit, scarf & comfy jeans options this blogger styled. It looks so cozy!

image via

I've got a full on obsession with leather pieces right now. This vintage tee/leather miniskirt combo would look amazing with any footwear - but I love the "street chic" vibe these wedge sneakers give this look

I practically live in black leggings and a sweater, no matter the occasion - spice up your outfit with a neutral pair of sneakers & a striped version like Naomi Watts' patterned pullover.

This is the perfect combo of my favorite dressing up/dressing down option. The skirt & sparkly sweater add a dressy element to the casual tan sneakers yet the ensemble still looks effortlessly cool. Love!

What about you? Have you tried this trend out yet? I'm itching to wear my pair so bring on the inspiration!

Outfit Post: Prabal Gurung Sandals + Boyfriend Jeans

Prabal Gurung for Target Neon Sandals || Express Boyfriend Jeans (old - LOVE this pair & the price) || Oversized Sequin Sweater from Anat B  || GiGi New York Uber Clutch in Indigo c/o  || Stella & Dot, Max & Chloe & Banana Republic Bracelets

Okay.. this may be one of my favorite outfits. Ever. Yes, it includes the shoes that I went to extreme measures to find, but that's not the only reason :) It's the epitome of my best kept non-secret for putting an ensemble together. The perfect combination of 2 styles - casual and glam.

I'm not sure about you, but boyfriend denim is in a constant rotation in my wardrobe. And if you haven't tried it yet don't just dip your toes in. Dive in, head first, with at least 2 sets (dark wash and light rinse) This pair is usually my "casual" option since it's so light. Normally I'm sporting flats or loafers when I wear them. But something about these Prabal Gurung for Target sandals and my GiGi New York clutch just made me want to dress them up for a church day. Kept my "next-day" hair super messy (my favorite way to wear it) and topped it off with a sparkling sweater.

I really want to challenge you to try dressing down or dressing up one of your favorite pieces. It's so fun to play around with what you've got and discover a new way to wear something!

Outfit Post: Cray-Cray LA Weather + Color By Amber

Faux Fur Vest: Forever 21 (old)
Necklace: c/o Color By Amber
Clutch: c/o Hearts (last seen here)
Booties: Sole Society "Elsa"

Before we left LA a few weeks ago, the weather was having some serious issues. 1 minute it would be cool and cloudy. Then, the sun would decided to pop out for a brief hello only to disappear back into the clouds (along with the warm temperatures) We snapped these on a day in late March when the high was 60 - which by LA standards, is pretty cool. :)

Have you guys heard of Color By Amber jewelry before? I recently discovered their pieces and instantly fell in love with them. I think the eco-resin/Lucite pieces are the best. They're waterproof making them the perfect beach accessory (I wore them in Hawaii) This particular necklace is part of the Vibrante collection that is made from fabric found within the Oaxaca hills. Since each piece is cut from a different weave of the material, no 2 pieces are alike. Which makes them each unique in their own way. How fab is that? Plus, every item is eco-friendly & sustainable. Yay!

We're slowly getting adjusted to life here in Raleigh. Thank you guys SO much for your support on my last post that I wrote while we were on the road. Your comments and love mean the world to me! :)

Headed East/Update

As I write this post from my cell phone, traveling through Arizona, our entire lives packed in 2 pods & our 4Runner, I am a mixed ball of emotions. It's really happening. We're leaving sunny gorgeous LA to head back home to NC. Bill's got a great gig lined up and (praise the Lord) we'll be closer to family. But I can't help feeling super sad. So many amazing memories in this crazy-but-fabulous town. (the smell of the ocean from my front door and 75 degree winter days are 2 favs I will not forget) but what's probably the hardest thing is leaving behind our SoCal friends who really turned into our family over these past few years. They're all very special people. But I'm really trying to remind myself to look to the future during this transition and what that means for us.

So as we travel cross country and start to get settled into our new lives I'll be posting a bit less frequently. But just bear with me. I promise I'll be back real soon! In the mean time, follow me on Instagram & Twitter for our road trip adventure!

And if we met at LuckyFABB, I can't wait to share this next new step with you too!! xoxo

Outfit Post: Brocade + Chambray

Chambray Shirt, Brocade Skirt & Nude Patent Flats: Target (old - skirt last seen here)
Gold Metallic Pom Pom: c/o ban.do
Glasses: c/o Firmoo

Just a quick little outfit post before I head off to LuckyFABB (see my recap from September's conference here) this morning! I couldn't be more happier that it's happening in L.A. this season (so much easier for wardrobe choices) but in hindsight.. maybe wasn't such a great idea trying to cram packing our entire lives in between the conference :)

Either way, I'm still really excited to see my favorite bloggers again and meet some new ladies! It's going to be great. Don't forget to follow me on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram today and tomorrow for updates! Can't wait to share this experience with you!!

Five Things

As of late this is me:

I just realized that LuckyFABB is literally in 2 days.. our apartment is a wreck with clothes and boxes strewn everywhere.. and I just can't seem to put 1 foot in front of the other lately without taking 3 steps back. I have a feeling that the above photo will continue to represent Bill & I for the next few weeks or months...

So I wanted to have a bit of fun with this next post. A few weeks ago while in Hawaii I was tagged by the lovely Danielle from Lou What Wear to reveal 5 things about myself that people may or may not know. (You've probably seen these posts going around the blogsphere) I've racked my brain and even though these are mostly (or probably) super well know - it's still fun to share a little something!

1. I'm a closet beauty junkie
On a normal day to day basis I hardly wear makeup. I'm a firm believer that a bit of bronzer and a swipe of lipstick can go a long way. Yet I'm obsessed with makeup and beauty products. I have tons of eye shadows, blushes, lip pencils, hair care.. the list goes on and on. And I love experimenting with new looks or of-the-moment trends (like right now I'm obsessed with smokey blue eyes). I should really try to wear them on the reg!

2. I'm addicted to candy
This isn't really too much of a secret since it's a habit I try to break and continue to fail. In our house I'm always stockpiling bags of sour patch kids, starbursts and twizzlers. I prefer anything sour over chocolate but I'm an equal opportunist (meaning I don't mind reaching for a handful of Reese's Pieces every now and then) One thing's for sure - I can credit my sugar binges for that extra layer of skin around my stomach ;)

3. I'm a total bookworm
I'm that kid who read every book the summer reading list plus 5 more. When I was 6 I used to hid a flashlight and a pile of books under my sheets so I could secretly read after lights out. I love everything from biographies to teen novels to romance to thrillers. I don't think I'll ever get used to these e-readers. There's nothing better than the smell of a great book - especially when it's passed on from a good friend.

4. I'm obsessed with commercials
Sometimes, when I'm watching a DVR'ed show I forget to fast forward because I'm so interested in the commercials! My parents said when I was little I used to run into the room when commercials came on and run back out when the show started again. Right now my favorites are the AT&T kids commercials - so hilarious!

5. I'm a hoarder
It really is a good thing I married such an OCD clean freak because I might be in trouble... I'm nowhere near those crazies on that TLC show, but I definitely have an issue letting go of stuff. I hold on to movie tickets, clothing tags, business cards, receipts, the list really goes on. I'm really excited about the possibility of moving into a bigger space so that I can try and work on staying organized!

So there they are! Some fun facts about me.. now I'm tagging some of my fav ladies to see what they have to say!

Brunch Date x The Stylist LA

Do you ever have those moments when you just feel so behind?! That's me right now.. like I didn't even realize that today was actually the 1st of April! This whole moving thing really has me out of wack! Anyways, let's just pretend we're still in March for this month's collab with The Stylist LA ;)

Well we're officially in Wedding season! Which means luncheons, brunches, showers and more! When I visited the Stylist LA's office to choose my next look, we thought this would perfect for a dressed up Spring Occasion.

Dress: Parker Bow Back Dress in Light Pink - borrow for $60
Studded Ankle Booties: Zara
Bag: DSW (old)
Bracelets: Gifted from my BFF

Attention all bride-to-bes! This would be SUCH an adorbs dress for your next wedding soiree! So perfect for a daytime bridal luncheon or wedding shower. I am in love with the open back because the bow still gives a slight hint of sexiness but definitely doesn't overdo it. (Plus with a little help from double stick tape, I was able to wear a regular bra - bonus!) I also like the tiered middle because it breaks up the body a bit and hides problem areas well!

But if you're not engaged or already married - don't worry. You can still totally rock this dress. I borrowed it for a nice rooftop brunch while we toasted a great friend. I wanted to create a slightly more casual look, so I paired it with messy waves and my favorite studded ankle booties. But throw on a pair of high heels sandals with an elegant pony and you've got yourself a surefire fancy-fied (yes I just made that word up) outfit.

If you need more information on The Stylist LA check it out here and here. I guarantee they're going to be your new go-to for outfits. I've got about a bazillion weddings this summer so I can't wait to see what they'll have next!
