Outfit Post: Rompin' Around for Spring

Spring has finally sprung here in NC! This past weekend was absolutely gorgeous. Sunny, breezy, warm and of course a layer of pollen. But even that wasn't going to get my spring spirits down and I definitely took advantage of the "Romper Weather" for Saturday Night's triple date night:

This beaded romper is another fabulous find from The Mint Julep Boutique. It's SO affordable and I plan on wearing it all through spring and summer. The beaded detail makes it perfect for any dressy occasion. But the shorts part means this outfit is so incredibly comfortable, making it a total win-win if you ask me. On Saturday, we enjoyed a fabulous night out with friends at a local Jazz bar. Boy, that sounded really adult of me, didn't it. Don't you find it funny the things you start to enjoy as you get older. A good glass of wine champagne over a beer bong. A Friday in with Netflix and takeout over a club night. An amazing jazz bar over Coachella weekend. Okay, who are we kidding - I'd love to be at Coachella right about now. But still, it was so much fun just sitting, listening, sipping cocktails and having great conversation.

Holiday Party season is in full effect and if you're not sure of what to wear - don't worry! I'm sharing an easy and super simple outfit idea today!

 

Somehow I went from owning zero plaid items to over 3 in less than 2 weeks! I guess that's what happens when you realize there's a big ol' hole in your wardrobe! I wore this plaid and leather combo to our building's holiday party last week. I knew it wouldn't be super fancy but I still wanted to look chic and festive! My recently acquired Target purple plaid button down was just the piece I needed to pair with my leather mini skater skirt. I could have gotten the red option to be more "Christmasy" but I figured I'd get more wear out of the purple (I also got this black and white one too.. oops!)

 

Next I just layered on some super fun bangles, a crystal statement necklace (that you can score for $15 by using code BEDAZN or BEDA15 for 15% off your order!) and a cheeky transparent clutch. Normally, my credit cards and ID are just floating around in there but I got the brilliant idea to use my Business Card holder from Graphic Image as a pseudo-wallet for the night! Everyone loved that you could see inside my bag as well as a peak at my card case's personalization stamp :)

 

And BOOM! I was comfy, covered, cozy and totally Christmas party worthy. You could rock this look at your work's party or even a neighborhood get-together that's not going to be extremely dressy. It's been an mix of extremely busy days and terrible weather the last couple of weeks so I apologize for being slightly MIA. Hopefully I can get some more outfits up this week! I've been talking about crop tops for weeks.. no scratch that. Months. And for some reason I just didn't think I could get away with it. Then I saw Jess at My Style Vita rock the heck out of her crop top- high waisted skirt combo. Seeing how fab she looked made me stop being a baby and put my money where my [blogging] mouth is.

 

Here's why the outfit works: My crop top is a full top - mock turtleneck if you will. There's no low-cut V neck or open back. It's just a simple muscle tee with the bottom half cut off. My skirt is high waisted. There's no belly button showing and it's no where near a low rise (it also helps that the length isn't too short) When bringing this 90's crop top trend up-to-date, you want to show the right amount of skin instead of just showing skin. This way you look stylish and modern!

 

Also do you guys see my newest clutch addition? I am so in freaking love with this transparent clutch it's not even funny. I just had to make sure I carefully selected what actually went in it (apparently I like to have minty fresh breath!)

 

Before dinner, Bill & I hit up Chelsea's Style Sessions event at J. Crew. I SO wish this gal hadn't moved to Charlotte practically as soon as we moved to Raleigh! She's beyond fabulous. And stylish! I have serious wardrobe envy. But at least we're not super far away so maybe I can still borrow stuff from time-to-time ;)
