Happy Zac Posen Day!

Did you know that yesterday was a holiday?! Well... Not exactly. But it was pretty close! Zac Posen's line for Target officially launched yesterday and I couldn't wait to get my hands on pieces I have been staring at for forever! I awoke like a kid on Christmas morning at 6:30 am so that I could head over to church after my shopping extravaganza. And I wasn't the only fashionista awaking early to get Zac's highly coveted pieces. I waited in line with about 15 other women (young and old I might add!) as we anxiously hoped the Target employees would open the doors early. No such luck - but it was like a free for all frenzy once our feet hit that linoleum as we made a beeline for the racks. I grabbed that red dress I've been dying to get, a few tanks, and some more dresses. One item I saw that surprised me: The long gown Claire Danes was spotted in at Zac's launch party a few weeks ago.

The gown's length, the mini train, the cut-out detail in the back. Love! However a hanger mis-hap forced me to forgo this gorgeous dress. Hanger said Small, garment was actually an X-Small and by the time I went back to the rack they were gone :( Guess it wasn't meant to be!

After trying on all the items there were only two pieces that I absolutely loved and thought were great. That ruffled 2 piece dress really shocked me as the underneath garment was actually a fabulous well constructed cocktail dress with a great fit. I love the attachable ruffled skirt - very feminine. I'm still a little nervous about the red as I own nothing in this color. How? I have no idea... But I think I'll learn to live with it. The 2nd item I snagged was the pink tiger print tank for 16 bucks. Those were the pieces that I knew I just had to have. I also have read about a few ladies picking up a cute scarf in the same print as the long dress above - Jealous! Maybe I'll come across it over the next few weeks.

Zac Posen/Target First Look!

O.M.G. I am seriously feeling the same breathing effects as when I first heard about this unbelievable collaboration. Now I have photos to drool over until April 25th?!?! Can you feel torture and excitement all at the same time? Because I am! I was also on the receiving end of dirty looks from my husband. "But it's Zac Posen!!!!" I say. Still dirty looks. Oh well.... Mostly dresses and skirts with a pants suit thrown in, lamé bathing suits and a few cardigans/jackets Zac Posen totally delivers with his bright prints and party dresses! I am a lover of all things Party Dress. And there are quite a few to choose from.

I love the Lipstick Tee Shirt above. Super cute! Almost makes me wish I could back in the corporate setting just so I could be a rebel rocking this tee shirt pants combo. Almost....

This cute layered looks seems to involve two pieces - a lace shouldered tank and a two piece ruffled dress. All I see is a big ball of tulle and I turn into a girly mess! It also comes in red. I don't own a red anything. But if I only get one piece I may need this red ruffle dress as an addition to my closet.

 

See what I mean? Billy better find a fun excuse for me to use this dress ASAP! So cute and SUPER girly

I'm a huge fan of brocade - To me it's very 60's and makes me want to throw up a big bouffant and go dancing. This floral brocade is so sweet and that huge bow is so obnoxious that I love it. And are those pockets I see?? Sold.

Rodar-tay for Tar-jay

Ok so I am a little bit late on this post - I've been soooo busy working at the store (non-stop! it's been crazy but that's a good thing!) but I had to write something about the launch of Rodarte for Target (pronounced row-dar-tay for those of you who don't know) that happened this past Sunday. Jamie (one of the amazing minds behind ban.do) and I have been soooo excited about this and talking about it for months. I literally came home from work on Saturday so excited - it was like Christmas Eve and I didn't think I was going to be able to sleep. Then Jamie called me, in a panic/excited state. One of the targets near us put it out early and there was absolutely no one there!!!! So I raced over there (to the utter confusion of Billy - men will never understand the things we women do for fashion) and literally tried on every single piece in the collection. my cart pretty much looked like this and the dressing room attendent was none too pleased with me:

There were two pieces that I knew I was going to get for sure but I wanted to try everything on. While I knew this collection wasn't going to be the best quality I was still pretty pleased with the pieces I ended up purchasing. The leopard dress is literally ah-mazing. It's got these cute bows going down the back that give it that vintage feel. The amazingly beautiful Dakota Fanning modeled it for Teen Vogue December/January issue (wow has she grown up!)

So cute! It's short so totally do-able both the rest of winter with tights and spring! But the piece that I was most excited about and was soooooo happy they had my size was the leopard print jacket

it is sooooo fantastic. I had a target gift card from my mother in law Patrisia that allowed me to get this jacket - score! Otherwise I would have been in big time trouble with my hubby... The third piece I took home was a wild card - an orchid pink top with an adorable bow on the neck.

I grabbed it in my frenzy to try everything on and it was the only other piece I truly liked on me. Super girly and lots of fun. The color is very reminiscent of this Rodarte gown Natalie Portman wore to the Oscars this past February.

Overall I enjoyed the collection even though a few of the pieces were definiely not for me (either fit was off or just not my taste). I am super satisfied with my purchases and already planning on when I can wear everything. The only thing I wasn't able to grab were those cute bow belts or lace tights. Oh well - I guess I can't really complain anyways. I got everything I truly needed :) I'm already dreaming about Zac Posen's line for April.... xoxo

O.M.G. - Zac Posen for Target!!

Okay... I am seriously hyperventilating as I am typing this but I just heard a fantastic piece of news that I had to share IMMEDIATELY. Zac Posen will be offering affordable fashion as a GO! International designer for Target. (it's ok - breathe in... breathe out!)

I am already so pumped about the Rodarte line coming in a few weeks (I will be waiting outside Target the morning it launches - yes seriously!) But this has just sent me over the edge! Zac Posen is a color genius and makes the most amazing dresses eeevvveerrr! (The above photos are his Spring 2010 line from NYFW.) Only a few weeks ago I saw on Glamour that he was planning on designing Z Spoke, a "lower priced line" that will be launching at Saks Fifth Avenue this spring. Considering that his Zac Posen collection begins retailing at $900 and can go up to $20,000 for custom pieces, Z Spoke's prices, starting at $78, seemed much more do-able. But with this news of the GO! line coming out in April 2010 that could mean pieces can range anywhere from $14.99 up to around $129.99. Ummm... can you say AH-mazing?!?!

If you don't know about GO! International prepare to be amazed. About 4 times a year Target launches a what I like to call an "Affordable Trendy Fashion" line for 6 weeks and sometimes a well known designer lends their hand and creative minds to GO. These pieces are still products of these fashion geniuses, but they fit an everyday budget. I think I have bought one piece from every line since it launched in 2006 and I still wear every single piece today. A few past designers have been Paul & Joe, Patrick Robinson, Erin Fetherston and my favorite: Proenza Schouler.

However, let it be said that affordable lines popping up at H&M, Target and even Wal-Mart are fantastic for offering trendy pieces, which may be out of style in a few years. It just allows budget fashionistas the ability to get the trends versus someone who actually can afford the more expensive pieces. There's a lot of talk throughout the fashion community that when luxury designers create less expensive lines it can hurt their reputation. I think it may do simply the opposite. These less expensive lines aren't made with the same materials and aren't going to be of the same quality if you purchased a dress for $2,000. We (as consumers) know this and it just gives us a little taste of fashion. I don't think that these so called "Bargain Lines" discredit their Designer Status. I still can't wait for the days that I can purchase Jimmy Choo shoes and Zac Posen dresses and not think twice about it. But until that day comes, I'll settle for H&M and Target. What are your thoughts loves? Let me know! xoxo
