Garnier Texture Tease: Messy Braided Bun

Since moving back to the east coast, I've re-discovered the dreaded humidity. Living in California I was blissfully forgetful of frizzy ends, fallen curls and the growth of hair outwards (you know.. like in the Friend's episode when Monica's hair reacts the humidity in Barbados....) I'm all for messy mermaid hair.. but it's still got to look good, right?!

So when Garnier asked me to create a hairstyle using their new De-Constructed Line I was over the moon! No longer working against the humidity, I decided to work with it. Plus I'm a wash-as-little-as-possible kind of gal and the Texture Tease product was ahhhhmazing! Here's my look. I promise it's easy and perfect for any kind of occasion!

First I decided to curl my next day, non-washed hair. I feel whenever you're creating a style, it's best to work with dirty hair.

After that I did a little bit of comb teasing and added the Garnier De-Constructed Texture Tease Spray for some more texture. I prefer messy styles so the messier the better.

Next I gathered my hair at the nape of my neck and began to braid. Make sure the braid is semi-tight at the beginning and then looser as you braid down. Secure with a clear elastic and pull the braid apart so it's not so perfect. I wanted it even messier to I added more Texture Tease spray to the braid itself. You can also pull out front pieces and give the crown a little push up.

Finally, I wrapped the braid around itself to create a messy bun. Slide in as many bobby pins as needed to keep the bun in place. Add a spritz of hair spray and voilĂ !! You're ready for a night out with a fab hairstyle!

Pssst.. Here's a sneak peek of an upcoming post when I wore this braided bun for date night!

Birthdays are the perfect excuse to dress up in something super girly for a night out on the town! But let's be honest.. I would have worn this on a Tuesday even if it wasn't my birthday! ;)

Lately I seriously cannot get enough of rompers. They're fun, flirty and just about the easiest thing to throw on. I love wearing them dressed up - apparently it seems unexpected to others. I got a lot of surprised "Is that a romper?" questions followed by "It's so cute!"or "I'm totally into rompers too" So next time, try yours with some sky high heels and your favorite clutch. This classic GiGi one is mine!

If you haven't shopped rompers or glitter heels yet - don't worry. I've picked some major must haves below! :) Happy Tuesday everyone!

I mean who wouldn't be inspired by these 90's goddesses? I think my confidence level rises by at least 3 notches when I put it on. Thanks Claudia, Naomi, Cindy & Kate!

This was one of my favorite outfits I wore during my trip to New Orleans - the girls just fell in love with this dress too! I mean.. how could you not? 1 of my friends ordered it and another one is trying to track it down in another color - personally I think it needs to be created in every color possible!

And I have to admit that as a huge pink lover, I've been cheating on it a bit with the bright and bold turquoise hue. I never really thought of it as a color for me, but I'm starting to warm up to it so much more. LuLu's has a bazillion teal options too included this amazing lace frock for just about any occasion day or night. I also love the idea of a fun and flirty skirt paired with a sequin top for a night out. What do you think - are you experimenting with turquoise or have you always been a fan?

P.S. we had drinks at the Hotel Monteleone before dinner one night and oh. my. gosh. This has to be one of the most gorgeous hotels in all of NOLA. I can't wait to go back and actually sit at their carousel bar. Felt like we had traveled back in time!
