Happy Zac Posen Day!

Did you know that yesterday was a holiday?! Well... Not exactly. But it was pretty close! Zac Posen's line for Target officially launched yesterday and I couldn't wait to get my hands on pieces I have been staring at for forever! I awoke like a kid on Christmas morning at 6:30 am so that I could head over to church after my shopping extravaganza. And I wasn't the only fashionista awaking early to get Zac's highly coveted pieces. I waited in line with about 15 other women (young and old I might add!) as we anxiously hoped the Target employees would open the doors early. No such luck - but it was like a free for all frenzy once our feet hit that linoleum as we made a beeline for the racks. I grabbed that red dress I've been dying to get, a few tanks, and some more dresses. One item I saw that surprised me: The long gown Claire Danes was spotted in at Zac's launch party a few weeks ago.

The gown's length, the mini train, the cut-out detail in the back. Love! However a hanger mis-hap forced me to forgo this gorgeous dress. Hanger said Small, garment was actually an X-Small and by the time I went back to the rack they were gone :( Guess it wasn't meant to be!

After trying on all the items there were only two pieces that I absolutely loved and thought were great. That ruffled 2 piece dress really shocked me as the underneath garment was actually a fabulous well constructed cocktail dress with a great fit. I love the attachable ruffled skirt - very feminine. I'm still a little nervous about the red as I own nothing in this color. How? I have no idea... But I think I'll learn to live with it. The 2nd item I snagged was the pink tiger print tank for 16 bucks. Those were the pieces that I knew I just had to have. I also have read about a few ladies picking up a cute scarf in the same print as the long dress above - Jealous! Maybe I'll come across it over the next few weeks.

Did you pick up any Zac Posen pieces? What did you think? Were you overwhelmed with excitement or less than thrilled with the frills? I'd love to know! Happy Monday! xoxo

Celebrate Being a Green Fashionista on Earth Day

Today marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day! Although we should try to be Eco-Friendly all throughout the year - It's nice to have one day where we can celebrate and recognize that we have to take care of the planet we have! :) But being a fashionista and green is definitely possible - especially in 2010. There are many options to keeping your wardrobe and beauty products a friend to Mama Earth. I told you a few weeks ago about the H&M Garden Collection that debuted with all sustainable materials. My mom and I went to the mall last week and there were still plenty of items available (Hint - especially at the H&M in Raleigh!!) Give Earth and yourself a little gift and head down there today to purchase something green. People Tree is another brand that is trying to be totally eco-chic. Though it's mainly offered in the UK you can still check out their products here. Many beauty products of today strive to use natural ingredients keeping our bodies and landfills free from processed and toxic materials. Burt's Bees is probably a part of every woman's lip regime (I know I love it!) but did you know they now make toothpaste? Yeah! Check out that and other eco beauty products here. Also other everyday tasks you can do: refrain from using the dryer (A favorite of mine!), wash clothes in cold water, open windows instead of running A/C, take re-useable bags to the grocery and try to buy a few clothing items that are using non-synthetic materials. One of my favorite ways to take care of our planet? Buy Vintage! If you can't make it out to the amazing stores in your area (trust me there are hidden gems everywhere) check out EBay.

On a side note - The brand I intern for, C.Z. Falconer, will be participating in the Sassy City Chick's Fashion Bash happening tonight! Come out to the Petersen Auto Museum off Wilshire Blvd to get major labels (including us!) at major discouts. Find out information and buy advanced tickets here.

And the Project Runway Finale is tonight... Will you be watching? I have my DVR ready for when I get home! Can't wait to see who's going to win! (maybe it will be my early prediction??) xoxo

☮ ♥ and Coachella 2010 - The Fashion

Can't believe we are already halfway through April... Summer will be here before we know it and the sweltering heat will be upon us. And by the looks of the fashions at this past weekend's Coachella Music & Arts Festival summer has come early! 3 days of rising temperatures rad music and plenty of beer are perfect excuses to pull out ankle boots, headwear, tie dye, short shorts and anything fringe. It's reminiscent of the summer of love and I am obsessed. (I have this slight fixation with the 60's and 70's. I actually have dreams about being at Woodstock - no seriously... not kidding!) And with this year's attendance hitting over 75,000 people our favorite celebrities weren't about to be left out! And they all brought their fashion A Games. Of course.

Here are two of my all time favorite fashion ladies - they represent boho and hipster like no other. Light airy tanks, black bras and sunglasses are necessities for any music festival. I am dying over Kate Hudson's fringe bag and boots. (I saw these last week in F21 and battled with every fiber in my being not to buy them. Damn you budget!) And hello? - have we not already covered my love for leopard?! Love Rachel Bilson's breezy look - so fab! These two look like they stepped out of a time warp - and I'm ready to head back with them :)

Neutrals are a big part of spring's trends and Victoria's Secret Model Alessandra Ambrosio hit the fashion nail right on the head. Her floppy tan hat and boots are the perfect addition to her jean shorts - a staple for any music festival. A pop of color with the earrings and nail polish means Alessandra is ready to dance the night away. Kristen Cavallari looks every bit hippie chic and I would wear this whole outfit in 2 seconds. Tons of bangles, colored bracelets and a leaf necklace are amazing jewelry with her simple tank and shorts. But the center stage of this outfit for me - those kick ass fringe sandals and colored sunglasses.

But my favorite looks from the weekend are delivered by the petite and adorable Kate Bosworth. Ever since she burst out onto the scene as beautiful townie Bella in Young Americans (Oh yeah - I'm taking in way back) I have had a tiny girl crush on Kate. She's got hair that doesn't need to touch a brush, two different color eyes and impeccable style. Whether Ms. Bosworth is all dolled up or super casual and laid back she's fearless and experimental with her fashion. And her 3 days at Coachella have an amazing effortless feel to them. Her crochet dress, lace top and ankle boots kept her comfortable and fashionable in high temps. However Kate's tie-dye dress is my favorite look and I love love love her flower headwear. Absolute Perfection! With these center stage articles she doesn't need much accessorizing.. just a dark pair of aviators and a cute roomy bag. Bravo Kate!

Looking at these photos make me excited for concert season and I'm off to go raid my closet (or rather my Mom and Dad's!) xoxo

In ♥ With This: Camilla Belle in YSL

Lately I have been trying to decide on a title for a regular section I wanted to begin including on what I consider my writing haven. Often times, I find pictures of dresses, shoes, accessories, photo shoots or just outfits that I absolutely lust over. So I am tentatively starting this with the title "In ♥ With This" Any other suggestions provided by my loyal readers are greatly appreciated. :) So here goes....

Here is the stunning Camilla Belle attending the Metropolitan Opera Gala in N.Y.C. earlier this week. This dreamy Yves Saint Laurent dress is just too much for words - I am obsessed. Simple. Elegant. Lovely. Um and those shoes are perfection. Hope this inspires you loves this weekend! xoxo

Don't Mind If I Choo

I practically drooled over these Jimmy Choo sandal when I first saw Heidi Klum flashing her fantastic legs in them at the Grammy Awards in January. Recently I discovered the tan "Quinze Sandal" has a hot little sister - the black suede booties on the right. GOR-GEOUS! These crystal embellished stunners are sure to add extra oomph to any outfit. you can't go wrong with either color. I love nude colored shoes and the illusion of a long lean leg they give but the black mesh creates a sexy bootie look that is perfect for short dresses. And Heidi isn't the only one who's become a fan. Check out these photos of a few celebrities who share a love for this to die for shoe.

Zoe Saldana rocks the black choice at an event in February while Elizabeth Banks dressed her nude pair with black skinny jeans and a classic Chanel jacket at a pre-Oscars dinner in March. Love both looks!

Diane Kruger, one of my style icons, paired her Quinze sandals with an upcoming Spring trend - a nude dress. The gorgeous Monet Mazur added a little kick to her short black frock. I love that both ladies kept their looks simple and added bright colored bags to complete their outfits. (Oh and Diane... Joshua Jackson aka Pacey Witter will always have a place in my ♥)

Also - if I ever find that $1,795.00 I have lying around somewhere I'm headed out to buy these the second I come across it. :) Happy Wednesday! xoxo

Spring has Sprung

Spring officially kicked off March 20th and it seems celebrities have taken note! Everything from short dresses, to a wardrobe staple are screaming that the mercury on the thermometer is rising! I wanted to share these fashions with you and see if you've already started rocking any looks.

Both of these ladies are sporting the patterned print/tie dye/watercolor trend we saw on the catwalk during S/S 10 fashion week. I love that Jessica Alba's Proenza Schouler frock has a galactic/reptile feel while Kim Kardashian's pink and purple ruffle skirt has more of a feminine edge. Either way they both look ready for warm weather and are double the trends in their short hemlines. Plus Jessica's ocean blue nail polish is fantastic! (Oh and if you want to find out how to make your own creations like Jessica's - Check out this video of Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez on Martha Stewart)

Want to show off your gams in your summer dresses and skirts but need a fresh style take? Add a colorful shoe! I love that these ladies have mixed bright colors with not only black but bold sheathes as well! Bar Rafeli had a head start on this pairing last summer while Whitney Port and Tyra Banks brightened their ensembles a few weeks ago. Check out these super cute pink pumps or these adorable blue platform sandals as a fun way to mix things up and add a little pep in your step.

I am happy that jumpsuits are here to stay! I enjoy this trend because there are so many different ways you can play up this look. Pair it with flat sandals and a light cardigan for daytime or spruce it up with some sparkles for night time. Either way you'll be looking just as hot as these ladies above. America Ferrera's belt stands out against her black jumpsuit and cinches her figure making her a definite Spring Do. And what girl can't say no to a bargain? Apparently Rachel Bilson! She proves her ability to shop affordable clothing and make it look like it's fantastically expensive. Her $70.00 Express Ruffled Romper and gold buckle heels look effortless and Spring chic. I'm glad I can still rock my "one stop shop" piece throughout these upcoming months.

This last trend is one that has been a revolving one for forever! While denim jackets never technically go out of style - (doesn't every fashionista have one in their closet?) they definitely have their shining moments. And I can guarantee that this spring we will be seeing them everywhere. Both Emmy Rossum and Rachel Roy have the right idea using their denim to cover up on chilly spring nights. In addition to being stylish, Rachel's tie dye jacket is one from her own line Rachel Rachel Roy (which I am semi-obsessed with!)

Loving all these spring trends - what do you guys think? xoxo
